Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (Region 1) FWP's Region 1 page provides communication and outreach for northwest Montana. Obscene, vulgar, lewd, racist, or sex-oriented language is not allowed.

FWP's Mission is to steward the fish, wildlife, parks, and recreational resources for the public, now and into the future. Commenting Policy

FWP welcomes comments on our page and other social media outlets. In an effort to promote a welcoming and engaging environment for healthy public discourse, the following commenting policy is in place for this and all FWP social media sites.

· Please keep language appropriate. Keep posts family friendly.

· Threatening posts will not be tolerated.

· Be Kind and Courteous - We're all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required. Do not use all caps.

· Posts that include the personal information of hunters, anglers or individuals will be removed. Information that may compromise the safety or security of the public, public systems, agency, officers, employees is not allowed. Content and comments can be deleted from social media if they fall into any of the following categories:
· Obscenity, including racial slurs
· Pornographic content
· Content which violates the right to privacy
· Comments which may reasonably interfere with, inhibit or compromise law enforcement investigations, tactics, or the safety of enforcement
· Threats or “fighting words”
· Solicitations to commit, or speech integral to, criminal conduct
· Fraud
· Defamation (libel/slander)
· Commercial solicitations, promotions, or advertisements
· Hate speech
· Off-topic comments
· Spam
· Malicious or harmful software
· Links to websites that violate one of these listed categories
· Promotion in favor of, or in opposition to, a candidate campaigning for election to a political office.
· Copyrighted material posted without consent

Social media and online administrators will remove comments they believe violate these rules. Habitual offenders will be blocked from FWP social media outlets.

Meet Rigby (left) and Roe (right), September's B.A.R.K. Rangers of the month! Rigby and Roe are now official Lone Pine park stewards and advocates for safe outdoor recreation with pets.

Want your pet to be the next B.A.R.K. Ranger of the month? Sign up for the next B.A.R.K. Don't forget! Today through Friday, FWP is accepting fruit donations from landowners gleaning or removing fruit from their properties. The fruit drive is an opportunity for the public to help reduce bear attractants while also supporting the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, which houses bears that can no longer live in the wild after learning to find food in recreational or residential areas and becoming dangerously comfortable around people.
Community members can drop off fruit at the FWP Kalispell Office, Sept 8-11 from 8am-5pm.

If a bear is getting into garbage or other food sources on your property, please report the activity to FWP as soon as possible. Quick reports of conflicts allow bear specialists to respond quickly, help secure attractants, and provide guidance.

September is Bear Aware Month in Montana. Check out these upcoming events happening in Region 1!

-From Sept. 8-11 8am-5pm, FWP is accepting fruit donations from landowners gleaning or removing fruit from their properties. The fruit helps support the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center.

-Stop by the FWP Kalispell Office anytime between 3 and 5pm on Sept. 8, 15, 22, or 29 for Bear Aware Office Hours! FWP staff will be available to discuss bear safety practices, how to handle bear encounters, and how to avoid attracting bears to your property. Participants will also have a chance to practice using inert bear spray.

-Attend one of our Bear Aware Educational Talks! Sept. 16 at 6pm at the FWP Kalispell Office, or Sept. 17 at 6:30 pm at Lone Pine State Park Visitor Center. Join FWP staff for an educational presentation on bears and how to stay safe while living and recreating in bear country.

All events are free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
