Welcome to the official page for Wes Walker — Candidate for Kalispell City Council, Ward 1! 👋
I’m Wes: I am not a politician. I'm a dad and an IT professional focusing on cybersecurity. Alongside my wife, Cate, I own a local small business. Our family relocated to Kalispell in 2019, after my wife accepted a job locally. I have lived in small, rural areas, and large metropolitan areas alike. Both of these have their benefits. Kalispell is a mixture of both. It was our move to the Valley, and it's great potential that got me interested in city planning principles. I increased my knowledge through research and learning opportunities. This research made me think about ways to enhance our community and support my neighbors. Maybe the right person to represent my neighbors isn't a politician, but an everyday guy who cares, like me.
Why I’m running
Kalispell deserves steady, thoughtful leadership that listens first and builds solutions with the community. I’m committed to transparent decision-making, fiscal responsibility, and working towards results you can see on the ground - on our streets, in our neighborhoods, and alongside our natural resources.
My focus
Sustainable Growth: Support housing and neighborhood-scale development that fits our character, strengthens existing infrastructure, and keeps taxes predictable. Prioritize infill, walkable streets, and investments that pay back over time.
Healthy Water: Protect the Flathead Valley's rivers, lakes, and aquifer with smart stormwater management, erosion control, and commonsense site design. Clean water is essential for our families, businesses, and outdoor way of life.
Safe, Connected Streets: Make it easier and safer to get around - whether you’re driving, walking, biking, or pushing a stroller. Traditional street design, better crossings, and well-maintained corridors benefit everyone.
Vibrant Main Street & Local Business: Back policies that help small businesses thrive, keep downtown welcoming, and support a strong year-round economy.
Practical Problem-Solving: Use data, on-the-ground experience, and community input to deliver clear, workable plans - not just talking points.
This page is where I’ll share updates, listen to your ideas, and highlight the everyday projects that move Kalispell forward. Follow, share, and join the conversation - because the best ideas start with neighbors talking to neighbors.
Let’s build a resilient, and welcoming Kalispell together.
