A mural that will commemorate Telonn "Lonnie" Horton is being painted by local artist Patrick Hershberger, also known as Bonus Saves.There will be a free community event, The Gun Violence Resource and Resiliency Rally at Davis Street Park on June 27th at 3 pm. More details to follow.

A mural is going up in the Vine neighborhood’s Davis Street Park this month honoring the life of local skater Telonn “Lonnie” Horton.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting another round of severe weather across Michigan tonight. For the Kalamazoo area, NWS advises that all severe weather hazards are possible; however, damaging winds remain the primary concern.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting another round of severe weather across Michigan tonight. For the Kalamazoo area, NWS advises that all severe weather hazards are possible; however, damaging winds remain the primary concern.

Current forecasts indicate a 5–10% tornado risk for Kalamazoo during this event. The higher tornado risk is to the west. There is also the potential for localized urban flooding in low-lying areas due to isolated pockets of heavy rainfall. Rainfall totals of 1 to 1.5 inches are possible, although the heaviest precipitation is currently expected to remain north of Kalamazoo in areas such as Grand Rapids. The threat for damaging hail is relatively low, with a 5–15% probability.

The greatest concern is the wind threat, with a 60–70% chance of wind gusts reaching 60–70 mph.

The storm is expected to arrive in the Kalamazoo area between 9:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Severe weather conditions should move east of the city by approximately 10:00 PM, with 11:00 PM being the latest expected departure time.
