What started as a routine rescue call quickly turned into one little girlโ€™s very bad day.

In this clip from the Rolling Sixes series finale, Lt. Loso walks us through the rescue of a three-year-old girl whose leg became trapped inside her bicycle frame and the careful steps crews took to safely free her without injury.

The story did not end there. After the call, the squad reunited with the little girl and surprised her with a brand new bike and helmet.

Sometimes the smallest calls leave the biggest impact.

In the final episode of Rolling Sixes, we spend one last ride with A-Shift at Station 6 for a more personal look at the people behind the calls.

Throughout the episode, the crew responds to a crash, house fires, and everyday emergencies while also opening up about the realities of life in public safety, including mental health, family sacrifice, training, and the experiences that stay with firefighters long after the scene is cleared.

We also take a look at defensive tactics training, apparatus qualifier drills, and have a truly heart-warming reunion with a little girl who got her leg stuck in her bicycle.

This finale is a quieter and more reflective close to the series, focused less on the chaos of the job and more on the people who continue showing up to do it.

Thank you for riding along with us through Rolling Sixes.

On May 30, 2026, members of the Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting a directed patrol to combat gun violence in the 800 block of Riverview Drive where an active Mobile Nuisance Party was taking place. During the directed patrol CRT members observed a male showing clear indicators or being armed with a firearm while participating in the Mobile Nuisance Party.

CRT members attempted to contact the male in a parking lot; however he fled on foot with two other males upon sight of police. The foot pursuit ended when the three males entered a vehicle, which was quickly detained by CRT and KDPS operations personnel who responded to assist. All three males were removed from the vehicle, each of which had an illegal firearm concealed on their person. One of the fi****ms was reported to Battle Creek Police Department as being stolen in 2024. During a subsequent search, a rifle was also found concealed inside the vehicle.

All three males, two 18-year-olds and one 19-year-old, were found to be Battle Creek residents. They were lodged at Kalamazoo County Jail for illegal weapon offenses, resisting and obstructing, and receiving and concealing stolen property.

Behind every call, every siren, and every uniform is a human being carrying the weight of what they see and experience.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, tomorrowโ€™s finale episode of Rolling Sixes features an important conversation with Fire Lt. Loso about the darker side of public safety, the importance of checking on your people, and why seeking help is never a sign of weakness.

The final chapter also includes a moving reunion between a young technical rescue patient and the crew that helped free her leg from her bike, working fires, training, and one final check-in with A-Shift.

The final episode of Rolling Sixes premieres tomorrow at 8/7c on the KDPS YouTube channel.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to this yearโ€™s Bike Rodeo at the Kalamazoo Farmers Market! It was great seeing so many kids and families spending the evening learning important bike safety skills, getting helmets fitted, and having fun out on the course.

We also want to thank all of the volunteers, community partners, staff, and our KDPS Explorers who assisted with the bike safety course and helped guide kids through the interactive stations. From tune-ups and repairs to safety education and hands-on learning, your support helped create a fun and safe experience for everyone involved.

We appreciate the community coming together with us and helping encourage safe riding habits for kids across Kalamazoo!

Thank you to everyone who stopped out to KDPS Headquarters recently to support Lawrence Miller and the Trek for Vets team during their incredible journey across Michigan in support of veterans and their families.

Our command staff truly appreciated the conversations they were able to have with Lawrence about the importance of mental health awareness, connection, and ensuring veterans know they are not alone. Events like this are a powerful reminder of how important community support and open dialogue can be.

We are grateful to Trek for Vets for allowing us to be a small part of such an important mission and thank everyone who came out to show their support.
