Kalamazoo County Medical Control Authority The Kalamazoo County Medical Control Authority (KCMCA) provides oversight and education for EMS within Kalamazoo County.

The Kalamazoo County EMS system is a high-performance single tier ALS system with countywide BLS first responders. Serving a population of approximately 250,000, the EMS system is made up of four ambulance services covering designated areas of the county and sixteen first responder agencies provided through fire and public safety agencies. The Kalamazoo County Medical Control Authority (KCMCA) is

the agency responsible for coordinating and overseeing the EMS system and is physically housed within WMed Emergency Medicine. This partnership allows for very close interaction between residents, faculty and the EMS system's staff. Through the hard work and dedication of our EMS personnel and a highly effective EMS system design, cardiac arrest survival in Kalamazoo County is among the highest in the nation.

Please join us in celebrating the accomplishments of the Kalamazoo County Fire Chiefs Association Fire Academy Class of 2026.

While the journey is not yet over, these cadets have already invested countless hours studying, training, and developing the practical skills necessary to prepare for Michigan Firefighter certification testing. Their dedication, perseverance, and commitment have brought them to this important milestone.

This graduation celebration is an opportunity to recognize not only the cadets, but also the family members and loved ones who have supported them throughout the academy. It honors the long nights of studying, the physically demanding training, the sweat, the challenges, and the determination required to push beyond what they once thought possible.

Most importantly, it honors their decision to serve the communities in which they live. We are proud of what they have accomplished so far and look forward to seeing them continue their journey toward becoming Michigan certified firefighters.

We hope you will join us as we celebrate the KCFCA Fire Academy Class of 2026 and the dedication, sacrifice, and service that this achievement represents.

Prehospital Transfusionist training has begun! Yesterday a group of experienced Paramedics from Life EMS in Kalamazoo County participated in hands on simulation-based training to prepare them to administer whole blood in the field. The KCMCA Prehospital Whole Blood Project begins in July, watch for more updates as the implementation date nears.
