The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners recently proclaimed June 2026 as Pride Month in Kalamazoo County, recognizing the contributions, resilience, and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Observed each June, Pride Month traces its roots to the Stonewall Uprising and serves as an opportunity to celebrate progress, reflect on challenges that remain, and reaffirm our commitment to creating welcoming communities where everyone is treated with dignity, honesty, respect, and fairness.
The proclamation also recognizes the work of OutFront Kalamazoo, which has served the LGBTQIA+ community of Southwest Michigan for the past 30 years by providing support, resources, and advocacy that help strengthen our region.
We join in recognizing Pride Month and the many individuals, organizations, and allies working to build a more inclusive Kalamazoo County for all.
