THIS IS A TEST of the Salmon Creek Dam Emergency Action Plan.
You may have heard the emergency sirens this morning if you are in the flood plain area.
This was ONLY A TEST.
In the event of an actual dam failure, AELP will make immediate emergency notifications through an audible siren, automated phone call to people located in the flood plain, and notification through National Weather Service and Juneau Police Department.
Following the steps above, AELP will post updates on this page to keep the community informed.
This concludes the TEST of the Salmon Creek Dam Emergency Action Plan.

At 10 am this morning, AELP will be conducting a TEST of the audible siren used to alert the community of a failure of the Salmon Creek Dam.
THIS IS ONLY A TEST.
These periodic exercises are part of the Salmon Creek Dam Emergency Action Plan to test our emergency alert system should there ever be an actual emergency.

5 pm: Update on the out the road outage: crew found a tree in the line. They have removed the tree and power is back on.

We have an outage affecting customers out the road (Lena loop substation and all customer north of and surrounding Lena). Crew is responding.

Update at 3:35pm: We anticipate being able to turn View Drive customers back on around 4 pm.

Update as of 12:15 pm. Water levels are rising more quickly now. We anticipate shutting off View Drive within the next hour.
