(October 6, 9:41 p.m.) - Preliminary unofficial election results are now available at juneau.org/clerk/elections. These preliminary unofficial results represent approximately 55 to 60% of the final ballot count, for this election.

Please note that these results are not yet official. Updated preliminary unofficial results, including eligible ballots received on or after Election Day, are expected to be published on Friday, October 9, 2026, with additional updates posted as needed until the election is certified.

It is anticipated that certified election results will be available on Tuesday, October 20.

Voters, be on the lookout for a ballot cure letter if you dropped off your ballot by mail. While this is required in very few cases, ballot cure letters are opportunities to correct any mistakes on your ballot envelope to make sure your vote is counted.

Great news — after working on flood-related repairs the last two weeks, the Dimond Park Footbridge passed inspection by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities 🌉

We do still have a little work to do around the bridge, like smoothing the walking surface and installing some temporary fencing to ensure the bridge is safe for community use, so stay tuned for updates from Juneau Parks & Recreation on a full reopening of the Dimond Park Footbridge and Kaxdigoowu Heen Dei (Brotherhood Bridge Trail) this Thursday, October 8 🌲👣

Meet Maggie and Doreen – the team that transports thousands of ballots during Juneau’s Municipal Election 🗳️

For the over two weeks when voters can submit their ballots, Maggie and Doreen pick up ballots from the post office, the two CBJ Vote Centers, and five ballot drop boxes each morning. The pair bring the ballots to a secure facility, called the Ballot Processing Center, where teams of other election workers verify and process the envelopes and ballots before they are counted after 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Maggie, who has been supporting both local and state elections work for over 12 years, encourages everyone to vote: “If we want to have a say in how things are run and what our government officials are doing, we need to speak our minds by voting,” she shares.

Election Day is Tuesday, October 6. Return your ballots by 8 p.m. that day by dropping off your ballot at one of our secure ballot drop boxes or by visiting a CBJ Vote Center to vote in person. You can also return your ballot via the U.S. Postal Service using first class postage – just make sure your envelope is postmarked by Election Day.

Did you hear? Capital City Fire Rescue’s two new Airport Rescue Fire Fighting trucks and a new wetland rescue vehicle have arrived at the Juneau International Airport 🚒

Airport Rescue Fire Fighting trucks, also known as ARFF trucks, are a critical part of airport safety. They hold large tanks of water and can navigate harsh terrain, making it possible for our first responders to get to any aircraft, medical, or fire emergencies. Early this year, two of Juneau’s three ARFF trucks aged out of service – and this September, we welcomed the first replacement truck.

Capital City Fire Rescue will be welcoming the last ARFF truck replacement during the Fire Station 3 Open House 🚒 on Saturday, October 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Along with celebrating the full ARFF truck fleet, we will also be welcoming a new wetlands response vehicle! Capital City Fire Rescue staff will be providing tours, light refreshments, and more family-friendly fun for all ages at the open house.

Fire Station 3 is located at 1700 Crest Avenue near the Juneau International Airport. Come help us welcome the new airport rescue vehicles ✈️

The City and Borough of Juneau identified a typo in the ballot language for Proposition A: Authorization to Renew a Temporary 3% Areawide Sales Tax after being contacted by a member of the public yesterday, October 1. This typo does not affect voters or the implementation of the proposed extension of the existing sales tax.

“This is a truly unfortunate typo that should have been caught and corrected during the legislative process, before ballots were printed and distributed last month,” said CBJ City Manager Katie Koester. “To be completely transparent, we wanted to immediately communicate this typo with voters and provide assurance that it does not impact their vote.”
