Park Alert🚨 - South Llano River SP

As a precaution due to a potential rise in the South Llano River, access to the river is currently closed. Your safety is our top priority, and we will reopen access when we are confident conditions are safe.

Due to recent rainfall upstream, water levels may rise significantly here at South Llano River State Park. Why the possible rise now? Even if it hasn't rained a significant amount right here or recently, water from upstream takes time to travel downriver. All of the rain in other areas of our watershed has the potential to impact our water conditions, even with clear and sunny skies.

San Antonio League of Sidewalk Astronomers, better known as SALSA will be hosting a night sky program at the park tonight! Come on out and join us for a night that is out of this world! 🌘✨⭐️

Please arrive around 8:30pm at our Walk-in Campsite Parking lot next to the Bald Eagle Amphitheater to allow your night vision to adjust before this program begins. The night sky viewing will begin shortly after sunset.

Remember to stop by the after hours check-in kiosk behind headquarters to grab your permits. Kids 12 and under are always free!

Good afternoon! Our Headquarters Building and Park Store will be closed for a staff meeting today, June 11, 2026, beginning at 4:00pm. Park visitors should utilize the self-pay kiosk until we reopen tomorrow, June 12, 2026, at 8:30am. During this time, services accessed at Headquarters will be unavailable, including ice purchasing, tube rentals, and tackle loaners/junior ranger backpacks.

Please utilize the self-pay station during HQ closures.

SLRSP has some very exciting news!! The wait is finally over - as of today, our camping loop is OPEN and reservations can be made online here:

In addition, Bald Eagle Amphitheater, Walk-in Camping, and access to the Overlook and Fawn trailheads, and Juniper Bird Blind are all open as well! The Burn Ban in the park has also been lifted.

We appreciate everyone’s patience throughout this project and hope you are all as excited as we are with this news! We can’t wait to see returning visitors, as well as new adventurers. Happy Camping!!

Come join us for a month full of park programs at South Llano River State Park!

A few highlights for the month:

June 13th from 9-11am we have our annual Kid Fish Tournament for ages 5-15, don't forget to sign up by June 9th! Email our park interpreter [email protected] to sign up!🎣

June 27th from 9-11am we have a new program coming to the park, our wonderful local shelter and rescue will be bringing fully socialized dogs ready to go on a walk with you! Scan the QR code and it will take you to our events page for more info.🐾

Our night hikes are back! Join us from 8-9:30pm on June 27th to discover what happens after dark at South Llano River State Park.🌙🦉

We are excited to announce that our annual Kid Fish Tournament will be Saturday, June 13th from 9-11am at Buck Lake! There will be plenty of Channel Catfish for all, thanks to TPWD Inland Fisheries! They will be stocking Buck Lake in early June😎🎣

Be sure to stick around for our awards ceremony at the end of the Kid Fish Tournament!

Please register by emailing [email protected] by June 9th. This event is for ages 5-15. Onsite registration is available but to ensure we have enough fishing poles and bait for all please register ahead of time. We look forward to seeing our next generation of anglers at this event.🥳
