Piute County Residents,

We are asking everyone to stay completely clear of all roads leading toward the Cottonwood Fire area.

As this fire continues to grow, it is critical that roadways remain open for incoming emergency personnel, fire apparatus, law enforcement, heavy equipment, air crews, and excavation teams responding to the incident. Please give our first responders the space they need to work safely and efficiently. We also encourage you to share this message with neighbors, family, and friends.

If you have not yet signed up for the Everbridge mass alert system, please visit the Piute County Emergency Management or Piute County Sheriff’s pages. Links and instructions have recently been posted there. We will keep you updated as information changes.

Please be advised that Piute County residents are currently safe, and there are no evacuations ordered for our area at this time.

Dear Residents of Piute County,

We have received reports of scams where individuals are being asked to pay for warrants. These fraudulent calls may appear to come directly from the Piute County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) phone number.

Please be assured that PCSO will never call you to request payment for a warrant. If you receive any calls or messages regarding a warrant, do not provide any personal or financial information. You can call our office directly to verify any information you receive.

Piute County has transitioned from Code Red to Everbridge as our new public alerting system. We believe this platform will better serve our county and provide the flexibility needed to keep our citizens informed.
Please note that Everbridge is an "opt-in" platform. To receive emergency alerts, you must register at the following link:

During registration, you may sign up family members who need assistance and include multiple locations for which you wish to receive notifications.
Please note: When registering, the page may display Sevier County, but this system also serves Piute and Wayne Counties. County names will be updated soon.

Piute County Emergency Management and Richfield dispatch Center will be conducting a test of the emergency sirens on Thursday, April 16th at 10:00 AM in conjunction with the Utah Great Shake out! There will be 3 different siren tones. This is what each tone means.
Alert Tone- Fire related Emergencies
Hi-Lo Tone- Shelter in Place
Steady Tone- Community Evacuation
