๐Ÿ‘ During the 2026-27 school year, Kansas school districts will be implementing a new law that bans the use of cell phones and other personal electronic devices during the school day.

๐Ÿ“Œ Due to the power outage in the area, Junction City High School USD 475 will be postponing its Ninth Grade Transition Day, which was originally scheduled for today. The new date will be Tuesday, June 23 at either 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. or 6-8 p.m.

If you are unable to attend on June 23, please know that there will an additional transition day offered on Tuesday, July 21. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming our incoming freshmen.

๐Ÿ† Congrats to the Junction City High School FFA Chapter marketing plan team of Kennedy Moreland, Deyton Dibben and Brittney Dibben on qualifying for the 99th National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis.

The trio will represent the Blue Jays at nationals next October after placing first overall in the Marketing Plan Career Development Event at the 98th Kansas FFA Association Convention in Manhattan.

Individually, Kayleigh Goggins placed first overall in Agriscience Research Animal Systems, while Hannah Huddleston captured championship accolades in Agriscience Research Integrated Systems. Finally, Brittney Dibben brought home first-place honors in Fiber and Oil Crop Production Placement. By winning, Goggins, Huddleston and Dibben will now have their applications move forward to see if they are a top 10 finalist in August and qualify for nationals.

Other state winners include Moreland (Division 5 Animal Systems), David Pagano and Lucas Laudick (Division 6 Animal Systems), Deyton Dibben (Division 3 Natural Resources and Environmental Systems), Kevin Lechuga-Adame (Division 5 Natural Resources and Environmental Systems), B. Dibben (Division 5 Plant Systems) and Aspen Goddard (Division 3 Social Sciences).

Finally, seniorโ€™s Kaitlyn Sohnrey, Blake Proietti and Ethan Goodyear all earned their Kansas FFA State Degrees in Manhattan.

๐Ÿ“ฃ The Junction City High School USD 475 track and field program will be well represented at the 2026 Kansas State High School Activities Association State Track and Field Championships this weekend.

In all, the Blue Jays qualified for state in 1๏ธโƒฃ9๏ธโƒฃ different events. On the girlโ€™s side, Madison Long will compete in the 100 meter hurdles and as a member of the 4x100 relay. Long advanced to state by placing second overall at regionals in the 100 meter hurdles, clocking a time of 15.16 seconds, while 4x100 quartet of Long, Amyah Fisher, Laila Berry and Ayanna Patterson crossed the finish line in third-place to punch its ticket to state.

Leading the way for the Blue Jays on the boys side will be the 4x100 quartet of Chase Perkins, Tylen Smith, Aidenn Segura and Isaiah Byers who have recorded a blazing state-leading time of 41.35 seconds, a mark that currently ties the Kansas state record.

Smith is set for a busy weekend as he competes in the 100 meters, 200 meters and the 4x100 relay, while Byers will race in the 200 and 400 meters in addition to running on both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.

The 2026 State Track and Field Championships will take place on May 29-30 at Crossland Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University.
