The JHS Theatre Department jumped into the holidays this year by starting their Thanksgiving holiday off competing at the Texas State Thespian Festival November 16th-18th alongside over 7,500 other students from Texas at the Ga***rd Convention Center and Hotel in Grapevine, Texas. Students competed in every area of Theatre – Playwriting, Costume Design, Prop Design, Set Design, Acting, Musical Theatre, and more.
All of our students did an amazing job and we are so proud of their hard work. Congratulations to Kennedi Boren, Jewell Bullard, Joseph Torres, Redding Herr, and Luke Kunz for earning spots at the National Level. These students will compete again this summer in Indiana.
JHS has also been working on several class plays. The Production classes (6th and 7th periods) performed on 12/11/23 for their family and friends and 2nd period Theatre 1 will perform on 12/18/23 at 6pm.
The JHS Theatre Department and Drama Club officers have also been very busy volunteering their time in the community by attending High Five Fridays, working at Glazewold’s Family Christmas as Characters, participating in the Christmas Tree decorating contest through JHS Student Council (we won), and by adopting and shopping for 2 angels off the JISD Angel Tree.
We have had an incredible few weeks and now we are jumping straight into auditions for our UIL One Act Play that will compete at the beginning of March.
We wish our Family, Friends, JISD Family, and Community a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.
