METS Ambulance is proud to celebrate Glenn Nichols for reaching 40 years of service with our company. Glenn began his career with METS (formerly JEMS) 40 years ago. Glenn has been a member of the command staff for the majority of his time at METS, currently serving as a Battalion Chief (Shift Supervisor) on C Shift. Glenn has played an instrumental role in the success of METS and making it the company that it is today. Several family members, along with former and current team members celebrated this milestone and showed their support for Glenn's accomplishment. Thank you Glenn for the dedication you have shown to METS and the community you serve!!!

15 years ago lives were changed forever. We will forever mourn for those who lost their lives, but continue to focus on the resiliency of the community. We are stronger now for what we endured. For the EMS community, many positives came from the tragic event. A statewide EMS mutual aid system was put into place. Radio communications with mutual aid partners were improved. Lasting relationships were built between agencies. New and improved equipment for disaster management was obtained.

This truly was a tragic event, but the heroic efforts of the community and first responders during that time will be remembered forever.

METS Ambulance would like to recognize Karen Delzell, Office Manager of 44 years, on her well deserved retirement. Karen began this journey in 1982 under the former name of Joplin Emergency Medical Services (JEMS). She was like a mother to so many of us. Karen's sense of humor and loving personality made each day special. People have asked "How do you replace someone like Karen who has been the backbone of an organization for so long?" The short answer is "You don't, and you can't." Karen will be greatly missed by all of us at METS, and those agencies who worked with her daily. Now, we all know Karen will miss her shoes being put in the freezer, baby chickens getting hid in her office, rubber snakes on her keyboard, people hiding behind her door, people taping her to a chair and rolling her down the hall, and all of the other jokes that she endured. It will leave many of us bored, wondering now what to do with our time....

Thank you Karen for all of the memories and the commitment you gave for the company. You will be greatly missed by all....including the homeless cats..... Now go enjoy your family, the lake, the beach, and sleeping in!!! You truly deserve it!
