๐จ IMPORTANT SAFETY ALERT: MSSU Community
๐น SCAM ALERT: Impersonation of MSSU Police Department Officers
Weโve been alerted to an alarming scam: someone is posing as an officer from our MSSU Police Department (UPD) and calling the parents of some of our students. These callers falsely claim that the student has been arrested and urgently request bond payment over the phone.
๐ซ This is a SCAM. The UPD never asks for bond payments via phone.
If you receive such a call:
1. Stop - Donโt Pay: Do not share personal info or agree to send money.
2. Check - Verify the Caller: Ask for their name, badge number, and contact number. Confirm with us directly at ๐ 417-626-2222.
3. Act - Report Immediately: Call us at 417-626-2222 or email [email protected]. Give us all the details you can.
Stay Safe:
โข Watch out for unexpected calls demanding immediate action or payment.
โข Remember, UPD officers have specific IDs and follow set procedures.
โข Unsure? Reach out to MSSU PD or the University administration.
Your safety is our top concern. Weโre on this โ investigating and working to stop these scams. Please be alert and help us keep our MSSU community secure.
