Located in Southwest Virginia, we are surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Appalachian Chain. The Town of Jonesville was established in in 1794 and founded on October 13, 1795 as the County Seat of Lee County and named after Fredrick Jones. Jonesville is the second oldest town west of Roanoke with a population of approximately 995. In the town's earliest years it was known as Glade Spring

and by the Civil War era often called Mump's Fort. Originally incorporated in 1884 and re-incorporated in 1901, Jonesville was a small but thriving center of commerce.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The Town of Jonesville will have a Public Hearing and council meeting immediately to follow on Friday,
June 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the Town Hall at 842
Park Street, Jonesville, VA.

The hearing will concern the following:

1. Proposed amendment to the Town's Zoning Ordinance regarding manufactured housing and residential dwelling standards. The proposed amendment would update the Town's zoning ordinance to reflect recent changes in Virginia law while maintaining uniform residential standards for all new single-family homes. A copy of the proposed amendment is available for review at Town Hall during normal business hours.

2. Proposed budget for 2026-2027.

Citizens are encouraged to attend and provide comments.
