Today is International Firefighters’ Day.

We want to recognize the men and women who put in the time—training, responding, and showing up when it matters most. Around here, that means leaving family dinners, getting up in the middle of the night, and doing a job that doesn’t come with guarantees.

At Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department, we’re proud of our members and the work they do for our community every day. It’s not about recognition—it’s about responsibility.

We also want to thank our families, employers, and community for the continued support. None of this works without you.

I have been blessed in my career to teach and instruct many of our current firefighters. The pictures below represent Owen County's first Explorer class and our (Jonesville) newest Explorer class. In the fire service, you often hear these words: "Leave it better than you found it." I have done my best to honor these words over the last 46 years and my hope is that these men and women will do the same!!

10 years ago today, our department and its members received some horrifying news that no department ever wants to hear. News that sent shock waves through a entire Emergency service region, Our chief, our leader, our friend Chief Duvall had unexpectedly passed away. In the moment we were lost not sure what we were going to do and through a lot of highs and lows we pushed ourselves Through and carried on as chief would have wanted us to do. Chief we miss you everyday and as promised, we still got it from here.
