There have been 27 versions of the American Flag. From the 1777 original that had 13 stars and 13 stripes for the American colonies, there have been many changes and iterations of the flag. Each time a state was added to the union, a star was added.

Red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice.

Our Administrative Offices will close at noon today due to continuing struggles with the chiller at the Sheriff’s Office. Patrol is not impacted, so please call 911 if you need us.

Our first Bark and Blue 5K is tomorrow (Saturday, June 13) and will impact roads around Crossroads Christian Church and Daniel Boone High School.

The race begins on Fulkerson (behind Crossroads Church) at 8 a.m. Participants will turn left on Shadden Road, right on Victory Lane, left on Highway 75 and finish at Daniel Boone High School.

Only the lane of Highway 75 on the same side of the road as Daniel Boone will be blocked during this special event. Traffic will be diverted into the center lane to accommodate race participants.

Deputies will be stationed at each road to make sure residents have emergency access. Thanks in advance for your cooperation, understanding and support.
