Happy Juneteenth!โค๏ธ๐ค๐
It was great to have the honor of joining the celebration hosted by College Park City Councilwoman Tracie Arnold, the Mayor Bianca Motley Broom, and the city council members.
Thank you, Councilwoman Arnold, for organizing such a meaningful event and giving me my crown and award. You brought our community together to reflect, celebrate, and honor our shared history.
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned they were freeโmore than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It stands as a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, perseverance, and the continued pursuit of justice and equality.
Thank you again, Councilwoman Tracey Arnold, for your leadership, dedication, and commitment to preserving the significance of this importance of Juneteenth.
As we honor the past, let us continue working toward a brighter future for generations to come.
