⚠️ OUTAGE UPDATE ⚠️

Crews have located the cause of an outage affecting 18 members north of our Northwest Jonesboro substation near County Road 312.

A tree has broken a power pole, and additional help is on the way to assist our crews with safely replacing the pole and making the necessary repairs. Because this involves replacing damaged equipment, restoration may take some time. Crews will work as safely and quickly as possible to restore power.

We are also working an outage affecting approximately 51 members in the Monette area, extending east toward Leachville. Crews are currently working to determine the cause and extent of that outage.

💚 Thank you for your patience as our crews work to safely restore power.

From our Craighead Electric Cooperative family to our friends at North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, we extend our deepest sympathy following the heartbreaking loss of Rhett Carter.

Rhett’s commitment to serving NAEC’s members and his willingness to answer the call during outages reflected the servant’s heart that defines the cooperative community.

Please join us in keeping Rhett’s wife, family, friends, coworkers and everyone at NAEC in your thoughts and prayers. We pray they are surrounded by comfort, strength and peace in the difficult days ahead. 💚

North Arkansas Electric Cooperative employee Rhett Carter, a great friend to all of us, passed away Aug. 25.

Rhett's loss is heartbreaking for our entire cooperative family. Our prayers and support go out to Rhett’s wife Kiley; parents Ross and Misti; siblings Tressie and Cooper; and his many other family members.

Rhett, 24, of Glencoe started at NAEC in December 2022. He worked as an intern in the Ash Flat district office’s warehouse. He joined the co-op full-time as a warehouse assistant and weekend dispatcher in July 2024. He then was promoted to our right-of-way division in the Ash Flat district in May 2025.

With his background in the warehouse, dispatch and right-of-way, Rhett contributed greatly to our Operations department. His work keeping the power lines clear as well as his willingness to respond at all hours to outages helped ensure NAEC’s members had safe, reliable service. Rhett's work ethic and his giving personality demonstrated his servant’s heart both on and off the job.

His family requests donations be made to the Humphries Cemetery in Glencoe or Public Timber Project Bible Donations.

NAEC’s Ash Flat office will remain closed at this time. NAEC's Salem and Mountain Home offices also will be closed Friday, Aug. 28, so that employees can attend Rhett’s services.

⚠️ OUTAGE UPDATE: In addition to the outage already affecting members near Earle, a separate outage is now affecting approximately 151 members south of Earle toward Jennette. A member has reported live power lines on the ground and sparking, and crews are responding.

Please stay far away from any downed power line. Never touch it, drive over it or attempt to move it. Always assume every downed line is energized and deadly. Keep children and pets away, and call 911 immediately if a line is sparking or creating an immediate danger.

We will provide additional information as it becomes available.
