Meet the 2026–2027 IHSA Equestrian Team!

We’re proud to welcome our talented student-athletes to the 2026–2027 IHSA Equestrian Team!

These riders will represent Arkansas State University throughout the upcoming season, competing in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) while showcasing their dedication, horsemanship, sportsmanship, and school spirit.

CoA agribusiness alumna Allyson Baugh spoke to Professor Bert Greenwalt’s Introduction to Agricultural Business class on September 11!

She is a Strategic Sales Manager for Nutrien Ag Solutions and, beginning as student teaching assistant, has been a long-time contributor to this course!

Allyson completed her A-State B.S.A. in 2018 and her M.S. in agribusiness from Mississippi State in 2023.

Dr. Jerica Rich had a very enjoyable Veterinary Anatomy & Physiology class session on Friday! The class was a dedicated review for Exam 1, during which students utilized the College of Agriculture's full-sized cow skeleton.

When we first acquired her, the students Dr. Rich was teaching at the time helped her come up with a name. Since she is from Germany, they decided on "Ku Moo"—with "Ku" meaning cow.

The students participated in a warm-up activity focusing on axial (sitting) or appendicular (standing) regions, a "point to the bone" challenge, where one student called out a bone and two others competed to point to it first, and students then rotated through six different stations: three involving loose bones, one "teach the skeleton" station, a "find the bone features" station, and a clinical bone identification station.

The students will have their first exam on Monday. Wishing them all the best in their studies!

Senior animal science major Abby Lillard was recently selected as the 2026 Miss Craighead County State Fair representative!

Her degree plan includes a pre-veterinary emphasis and she hopes to become a large-animal veterinarian. Abby currently serves as a student worker in the College of Agriculture office.

CoA alumnus David Clay Fowlkes was sworn in as a Federal Judge for the Western District of Arkansas on August 8, 2026. He previously served as the U.S. Attorney in Fort Smith. A native of Jonesboro, Clay earned his B.S.A in agricultural business in 2000 while working on the A-State University Farm. He earned his J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 2003.

Fall semester is officially underway!

The College of Agriculture at Arkansas State University kicked off the semester with a day full of food, fun, friendly competition, and Ag pride!

New and returning students came together to connect with classmates, meet faculty, explore our student clubs and organizations, and discover all that the College of Agriculture has to offer. From club tables and instructor exhibits to good food and plenty of games, there was something for everyone!

And things got a little competitive with co****le and wheelbarrow races!

Here’s to a new semester filled with new friendships, new opportunities, and plenty of memories. We’re excited to have our Ag family back on campus and ready for another great year!

As part of a NSF project, Dr. Jacob Manlove, associate professor of agricultural economics, will work with sociologists and extension professionals to examine how producers view the costs, risks, and benefits of adopting mycorrhizal inoculants.

The team will also study how agricultural lenders evaluate emerging technologies and what may influence their willingness to finance adoption.

It’s an important step in understanding not only whether a new technology works, but what it will take for producers and lenders to actually use and support it.

A-State researchers are tackling a challenge with global impact. A new $2.2 million NSF project will explore ways to help rice and wheat withstand drought conditions.

The project began Aug. 1 and continues through July 31, 2030. Beyond advancing agricultural research, the award will support undergraduate and graduate student training, workforce development, and educational outreach across Arkansas and partner institutions.

Agribusiness alumnus Joshua Mullinax has been recognized as one of four recipients of the 2026 A-State Emerging Young Alumni Award. Josh currently serves as the State Agriculture Liaison and Northeast Arkansas Field Representative for U.S. Senator John Boozman. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business in 2019 and completed his MBA at A-State in 2024. Congratulations, Josh!

CoA agribusiness alumna Anna Roemer Huggins was recently promoted to Tax Manager at HCJ CPAs & Advisors. Anna completed her agribusiness/accounting double major in 2022. While a CoA student, Anna completed an agribusiness internship with HCJ and served as president of the Agribusiness Club. Congratulations!
