The Clayton County Convocation Center is more than a building — it’s a bold statement about where our community is headed. A Special Thanks To City Councilwoman Hue Nguyen & District 8 School Board Member Joy Tellis-Cooper for coming out to visit with me on Day 2 of the opening of the Convocation Center. This is truly a dream of mine that we all made come true. This arena stands as proof of what vision, partnership, and persistence can deliver for residents, students, and local businesses.

Because of the incredible collaboration between Clayton County Board of Commissioners, Clayton County Public Schools, City Of Morrow and strong community sponsors like Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A, Georgia United Credit Union, Clayton County Chamber of Commerce, Clayton State University, Georgia Power and many, many more, this project is creating real pathways for economic development and workforce opportunity. From construction jobs to event staffing, hospitality, security, and beyond, the impact reaches far outside the arena walls.

This venue attracts tournaments, graduations, concerts, and large-scale events that bring visitors who shop in our stores, dine in our restaurants, and invest in our future. It gives our young people exposure to careers in sports management, event production, logistics, and entertainment — industries that are growing and full of possibility.

Most importantly, it shows what can happen when partners across the county lock arms with a shared commitment to progress.

It was exciting to tour the future 8,000-seat arena and convention center at the former Sears Building site in Southlake Mall which is located in Morrow, GA.
The collaboration between Clayton County Public Schools & the Clayton County Board of Commissioners on this Convocation Center & College and Career Academy is an exciting site to witness being built. The
I am also excited to announce that this transformative project will allow the Clayton County Board of Commissioners 20 days to come in the facility to do projects that will generate diversified stream’s of revenues for the county,
This facility includes a Junior Achievement Center, College and Career Academy, rooftop terrace, event center, offices, and many more exciting spaces.
The investment in education and workforce development is a game-changer for the Southside of Atlanta!

Chairwoman-Elect Dr. Alieka Anderson-Henry is deeply saddened at the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, who left us at the age of 100. Our sincerest condolences 💐 go out to his family and friends. President Carter served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. He is remembered for his significant accomplishments, including the Camp David Accords, the establishment of the Department of Energy and the Department of Education, and his post-presidential humanitarian efforts through the Carter Center. His unwavering commitment to peace, democracy, and public service has left a lasting legacy that will inspire future generations.

🚨 **Join the First Junior Citizen Police Academy!** 🚨

We are excited to announce the launch of the *Clayton County Junior Citizen Police Academy*—a unique opportunity for both children (8 years old and up) and adults to gain firsthand experience of police responsibilities and operations. Whether you're a curious kid or an interested adult, this program is designed to educate and engage our community.

📅 **When:** Starting September 23, 2024
🕕 **Time:** Every Monday evening from 6 PM to 7 PM
🏆 **Graduation:** November 25, 2024

**Applications are due no later than September 16, 2024, at 4 PM!**

Throughout the Academy, participants will learn about various aspects of our police work, including:

- Patrol Operations
- Detective Work
- Special Services
- Police Administration

You don’t need to have a child to attend—this program is open to everyone who wants to understand more about what we do to keep Clayton County safe.

**Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up early!**

The Clayton County Public Schools 🏫 2024 Back To School Bash was AMAZING!It was so great to see and speak to all the parents and students of our great community. We made it to all of the schools except for one but the TEAM is still out here working.
Also, a shout out to all the Divine 9 Educators we wish you and all the teachers, admin, and school staff a happy and prosperous 2024 School Year.
We decree and declare that all of our students in CCPS and throughout the Nation are going to have an Excellent school year as we all strive to, “Build A Better Tomorrow, Today!”
