New Weapons Carry Licenses
Beginning September 9, 2020 the Clayton County Probate Court will accept new weapons carry license applications at the Probate Court offices, on a walk-in basis for a limited time, Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., until November 20, 2020 at 121 South McDonough Street, Annex Building 3, Jonesboro, Georgia 30236. Please enter on the 1st floor, located in the rear of Annex Building 3.
NEW WEAPONS CARRY PERMIT APPLICATIONS:
• Please complete the application online at, https://www.georgiaprobaterecords.com/Firearms/FirearmsApplication.aspx . After completing the online application, save and print the application and a confirmation number will be generated;
• Present the confirmation number and copy of your application to the greeter, along with a valid Georgia Identification card;
• You must reside in Clayton County and provide proof of residency.
• The fee is $30.88 for the permit and $51.50 for fingerprinting. The $82.38 fee is payable by debit or credit card.
• Upcoming appointments: For those choosing to walk-in rather than wait for your scheduled appointment date, please provide the greeter your application confirmation number, and the date and time originally set for your appointment, to allow other applicants the opportunity to book an appointment at that time.
APPLICANTS FOR RENEWAL LICENSES:
Those renewing their Weapons Carry Licenses are encouraged to do so by mail. License holders preferring to renew their license in person may do so temporarily on a walk-in basis, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., September 9th through November 20th, 2020.
• It will be necessary to print and complete the Weapons Carry License Application online at https://www.georgiaprobaterecords.com/Firearms/FirearmsApplication.aspx
• Either mail, or renew in person, the completed application, along with the following:
o A copy of your photo ID showing your current Clayton County address;
o WCL Privacy Rights Statement;
o Social Security number information form;
o $33.88 credit card payment;
o Self-addressed stamped envelope. Otherwise you will be charged a $2.00 mailing fee.
• All mail in renewal applications must be signed in front of a notary public. Applications not properly notarized will not be accepted.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to protect the public and our staff, we will accept credit card payments only. A processing fee will apply to all credit/debit card payments.
Applicants MUST wear a mask or face covering and are strongly encouraged to bring your own pen to sign the application.
