On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the the Major Taylor Cycling Club of Oklahoma will host the OKC Eastside Bike Ride that will once again travel through Jones as part of their annual cycling event.

Residents may notice an increased number of cyclists on our roads between approximately 7:00 AM and Noon. We encourage motorists to plan ahead, use caution, and allow extra travel time when possible in areas where riders may be present.

The Town of Jones is proud to serve as one of the event's rest stops, and we've been told it's the riders' favorite stop on the entire route! πŸ†πŸ’š

Let's help keep that title by extending a warm Jones welcome to our visitors. Whether you're passing a group of riders on the road, waving from your front porch, or simply exercising a little extra patience while traveling, your hospitality helps make this event a success year after year.

Thank you for helping us showcase the very best of our community!

As temperatures continue to climb, our PWA employees have been hard at work out in the Oklahoma heat clearing brush, maintaining drainage areas, and addressing potential flooding concerns throughout our community.

These efforts may not always be visible, but they play a critical role in protecting roads, infrastructure, and property during heavy rain events. By removing debris and improving water flow, our crew is helping reduce flooding risks and keeping Jones moving forward.

We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, hard work, and professionalism our Public Works employees demonstrate every dayβ€”often in challenging weather conditions.

If you see our crews out working, please slow down, give them plenty of room, and consider offering a friendly wave. πŸ‘‹

Thank you to the Jones Public Works Authority for everything you do to keep our community safe, functional, and beautiful!

πŸ‘ We appreciate you!

πŸ’§ IMPORTANT UTILITY ACCOUNT NOTICE πŸ’§

The Jones Public Works Authority will be resuming utility service disconnections for past-due accounts in accordance with established policies and procedures.

If your account is currently past due, we encourage you to contact Town Hall as soon as possible to discuss your account status and available options before service interruption occurs.

We would also like to remind residents that our utility workers are simply carrying out their assigned duties. They do not establish utility policies, determine account balances, or make decisions regarding delinquent accounts. Their job is to safely and professionally perform the work required of them.

We kindly ask that all residents treat our employees with courtesy and respect while they are performing their duties in the field. Our staff is committed to serving the Jones community, and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

πŸ“ž Questions about your account? Please contact Town Hall at (405) 399-5301.

Thank you for helping us maintain a respectful and professional environment for both residents and employees.

FOUND A SWARM OF BEES? DON'T PANIC! 🐝

Spring and summer are prime swarm season in Oklahoma, and residents may occasionally notice a large cluster of honey bees gathering on a tree, fence, mailbox, or other structure.

While a swarm of bees can look alarming, honey bee swarms are generally focused on finding a new home and are often less aggressive than people expect.

If you encounter a honey bee swarm:

βœ… Keep a safe distance
βœ… Keep children and pets away from the area
βœ… Do not spray, disturb, or attempt to remove the bees yourself
βœ… Contact a local beekeeper for assistance

The Town of Jones would like to share a free resource that helps connect residents with local beekeepers who may be able to safely relocate honey bee swarms at no cost:

Honey bees play an important role in pollination and agriculture, and whenever possible, relocating them is preferred over extermination.

Please remember that not all stinging insects are honey bees. If you are unsure what you're seeing, use caution and contact a professional for assistance.

Today, we pause to remember one of the most significant moments in world history.

On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord, the largest seaborne invasion in history. Nearly 156,000 American, British, and Canadian troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, in a courageous effort to liberate Europe from N**i occupation.

The success of D-Day marked a turning point in World War II and came at an extraordinary cost. Thousands of brave men faced unimaginable danger, many making the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom.

As we reflect on this historic day, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy and helped secure liberty for future generations.

Their legacy reminds us that freedom is never free.
