¡Viva México! ¡Viva Joliet!

The City of Joliet was proud to celebrate Mexican Independence Day all weekend long with music, culture, tradition and community!

The weekend included the Mexican Independence Day Parade, Fiesta en la Plaza at City Square, and La Gringa at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park — our first-ever all-Spanish theatrical production!

Thank you to all of the performers, parade participants, community partners and residents who came together to celebrate and showcase the rich Mexican culture and heritage that is such an important part of Joliet.

A special shout-out to our City of Joliet Police, Fire, Public Works, and Cultural Affairs & Special Events teams for their hard work throughout the weekend and behind the scenes to make these celebrations possible. From planning and preparation to public safety, logistics and event operations, it truly takes a team to bring a weekend like this to life!

It was a weekend filled with community, culture, pride and tradition.

We were honored to join the Will County Fire Chiefs Association and the Police Chiefs Association of Will County this morning for the September 11th 25th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony at Joliet City Square.
