On April 24, 2026, Warren Darby, 48, of Gloversville, NY, was convicted of the crime of Strangulation in the Second Degree, a class D felony, by a jury of his peers. The case was handled by First Assistant District Attorney James P. Riley.

On September 30, 2025, Warren Darby violently attacked a woman known to him. In the face of such a vicious attack, the woman was able to remain composed enough to escape her attacker. Not only did this woman survive a brutal assault, but she remained unwavering in her pursuit of justice and courageously appeared in Court to testify against Warren Darby.

The District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement would like to thank the survivor for the bravery and resolve she has shown throughout this matter. The survivor’s courage in coming forward and the numerous hours spent by law enforcement and this office investigating the case has ensured that a violent criminal has been removed from the community and held accountable for his monstrous behavior.

The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Gloversville Police Department and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department for their thoroughness in investigating these crimes.

Crimes of domestic violence are far too common. But the defendant’s conviction illustrates the commitment of local law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office to ensuring that survivors of domestic violence receive justice.

This verdict is Warren Darby’s seventh felony conviction. A sentencing date has been scheduled for June 26, 2026.
