𝙇𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙏𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙉𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 $2 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙘, 𝙍𝙞𝙜𝙗𝙮

HARRISBURG – State Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. (R-35) and PA State Rep. Jim Rigby are proudly announcing more than $1.9 million in Local Share Account (LSA) funding that is being awarded to 17 projects in Cambria and Somerset counties.

“These awards will allow communities to address critical structural needs, enhance public resources, and implement targeted upgrades that strengthen local operations,” said Langerholc. “I was proud to work with Rep. Rigby to help ensure this funding was directed back to Cambria County, providing resources that enable local entities to support local residents.”

“Sen. Langerholc and I are more than happy to work with local government officials and bring these critical projects to fruition,” Rigby added. “We’re proud to partner with them in making investments in community needs and law enforcement equipment and addressing safety and health concerns.”

The list of projects is as follows:

• Cambria County - $279,227 for baseball field and facility improvements at Mount Aloysius College.
• Cresson Borough - $76,800 for the purchase of a skid steer loader.
• Cresson Township - $49,365 for the purchase of a new police vehicle and $139,925 for purchasing of a new backhoe.
• Ferndale Borough - $52,650 for replacement of a retaining wall along Plainfield Ave.
• Geistown Borough - $84,510 for the purchase of a police SUV.
• Lilly Borough Water Authority - $87,750 for the purchase of a backup generator to be used in Washington Township.
• Loretto Borough - $25,360 for the purchase of police department technology and $189,731 to purchase three cardiac monitor/defibrillators for use by the Cresson Area Ambulance Service.
• Portage Borough Municipal Authority - $29,400 for the purchase of a cold cut planer attachment for use in removing asphalt and concrete surfaces with precision; and $90,090 for system improvements that will ensure water quality and operational efficiency within the distribution system.
• Reade Township - $137,604 for the purchase of a dump plow truck.
• Reade Township Municipal Authority - $130,000 for the rehabilitation of two water tanks and $50,855 for purchasing a truck.
• Richland Township - $157,950 for the purchase of playground equipment at Highland Regional Park and $229,739 to purchase a truck for use in plowing snow.
• Scalp Level Borough - $114,642 for the purchase of a new truck to be used in Windber Borough.
• Stonycreek Township - $98,138 for the purchase of an excavator.

The Local Share Account (LSA) program provides funding for projects that promote economic development, community improvement and public interest projects across Pennsylvania.

In the spirit of the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on our country, the Windber Area School District will host its annual Salute to Heroes celebration tomorrow (Friday) night before the home football game against Tussey Mountain.

The evening begins with a 6 p.m. tailgate/cookout for all military veterans, active-duty service members, first responders and Windber Area School District staff at the Berwind Pavilion.

Then at 6:35, all first responders, active military personnel and veterans will be escorted onto the field and recognized by the Windber community.

Participants should enter through the gate closest to the main stadium entrance and gather at midfield for a special recognition ceremony.

Today, Sept. 7, is Labor Day, a day set aside to recognize the achievements of American workers and the vital role they play in shaping the nation’s strength and prosperity. The holiday emerged in the late 19th century as states began adopting a day to honor workers; by 1894, Congress officially established Labor Day as a federal holiday.

Labor Day serves as a moment to pause and appreciate the dedication, innovation and hard work that drive progress in every community. Whether marked with gatherings, parades or a well-earned day of rest, it’s a celebration of the people whose contributions continue to move our country forward.

It’s back & in time for the Labor Day weekend!

IT'S OFFICIAL: The Johnstown Inclined Plane reopens TOMORROW, Friday, September 4! 🎉

One of our region's most treasured landmarks is returning to service, and we can't wait to welcome you back aboard.

As part of the reopening, CamTran is providing 30 days of free rides beginning tomorrow.

During the initial reopening period, while CamTran continues training additional operators, the Inclined Plane will be open the following days and hours:
-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
-Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Inclined Plane will also be open on certain holidays, including this Labor Day, Monday, September 7, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Stay tuned for details about a community Grand Reopening Community Celebration in the near future.
