Daisytown Boro residents your fire department is in threat of not being your fire department. Boro council is looking into having Cover Hill as their fire protection. Due to lack of responding personnel to the 2-4 fire calls in the boro in a year. Mostly due to people unable to respond due to people actually having jobs and unable to be ready at a moment's notice. Training is an issue as well. Half the personnel on our roster is over 50 and are unable to fight fire and resorted to drivers. Other half try to keep their training update but as we all know trying to keep a schedule with fast paced times are difficult to do. Everybody knows that volunteering is a dying trend but you can't explain this to the unwilling to listen. We try as much as possible to help the community as much as possible but that just isn't enough. The Daisytown fire company is in current activities to make the department bigger by merging with others to serve the community better but we fear loosing the fire protection of Daisytown Boro can not help these activities. Boro council is not taking this into consideration. It's been a pleasure serving the boro over the years and would like to serve u longer.
