Due to today’s high winds, the City of Johnstown is responding to several weather-related issues involving downed trees and power lines.

At this time, Edwards Road is closed between N. Main Street and Upham Drive due to a downed tree and live power lines in the roadway. This area will remain closed until utility crews are able to safely address the situation.

Additional downed power lines have been reported near Denny Dotson Road and 129 E. Coshocton Street. These lines are not currently blocking the roadway but should be avoided.

The city is in contact with AEP, however there is currently no estimated arrival time for repair crews. Given the widespread storm damage reported throughout the county, response times may extend into the early morning hours or possibly tomorrow afternoon.

Police and service crews are actively monitoring the affected areas. We encourage residents to:

• Avoid closed roadways
• Use caution when traveling
• Stay clear of any downed power lines
• Report additional hazards to local authorities

We appreciate the community’s patience as crews work to safely address these issues.

Last week’s snow event showcased the power of collaboration across our community.

The City of Johnstown would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to Jersey Township for assisting with the hauling of snow out of our city last week. We want to personally thank each of the Trustees of Jersey and Monroe Townships for their willingness to send crews and equipment to assist our city team. This kind of regional cooperation matters, and we are grateful to be surrounded by neighbors that understand the importance of supporting one another when it’s needed most.

To all of the crew members— thank you for the long hours, hard work, and dedication shown while working in freezing temperatures to get the job done. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and our community is better because of it.

This is what strong partnerships look like. This is how communities move forward — together.
