🚒 Congratulations, Firefighter/EMT Ben Hansen! 🚒

On Wednesday (9/9), B-shift personnel joined Firefighter/EMT Ben Hansen for a ceremony recognizing his successful completion of his probationary period with JGMFD. Please join us in congratulating Ben on this important milestone!

The ceremony included the traditional climb of the 100-foot tower ladder to retrieve his station shield—a symbol of the hard work, dedication, and commitment he has demonstrated throughout his first year of service.
Ben was joined by B-shift personnel from Stations 37, 38, and 39, including his Lieutenant, Tyler Hardenbrook, and Battalion Chief Tristan Johnson.

We appreciate the dedication and professionalism Firefighter/EMT Ben Hansen has demonstrated since joining JGMFD. We look forward to his continued growth and service to the communities we serve.

Today, September 11, 2026, we honor and remember the 2,977 victims of the September 11 attacks, including the 343 FDNY members who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others.
In their honor, members of the Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire District completed a 110-story stair climb today, climbing in remembrance of those who never came home.

We will never forget their courage, their sacrifice, and the lives they gave to save others.

343 FDNY members. 2,977 lives. One sacrifice we will never forget.

Today we honor the brave men and women whose lives were lost 25 years ago, on Sept. 11, 2001. We know firsthand the strength of serving together. Today, we join the nation in remembering how unity carries us through our darkest times. May we never forget the sacrifice of the brave as we continue to honor their dedication on this Patriot Day.

In keeping with tradition, Jay and Jacob climbed the 100-foot tower ladder to retrieve their station shields, a symbol of the dedication, hard work, commitment, and professionalism they have demonstrated throughout their first year of service. They were joined by fellow A-Shift members, including Battalion Chief Jessica Smith, as they celebrated this important milestone in their careers.
