Labor Day weekend is a chance to relax, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the last stretch of summer but wherever the weekend takes you, make safety part of the plan.

Whether you’re traveling, spending time on the water, firing up the grill or heading out with friends, look out for yourself and those around you. Plan for a safe ride home, stay alert on the road and don’t let one bad decision turn a good weekend into something you’ll regret.

Take care of yourself, take care of each other and come back ready.

The 734th Regional Support Group has officially begun its mission in Central Europe.

During a Transfer of Authority ceremony Aug. 13 in Poznań, Poland, the 734th Regional Support Group, Iowa Army National Guard, assumed its mission in support of V Corps and NATO partners in Europe.

With its colors uncased, the 734th RSG begins its rotation providing critical base operations and logistical support while helping sustain readiness across NATO’s eastern flank.

🩸 Give blood. Help save lives.

With blood supplies currently in critical need nationwide, the Iowa National Guard is hosting two blood drives next week at JFHQ and Camp Dodge.

📅 Tuesday, Sept. 8
⏰ Noon–4 p.m.
Bloodmobile located in the JFHQ parking lot

📍 Camp Dodge – Freedom Center (S70)
📅 Wednesday, Sept. 9
⏰ 8 a.m.–Noon

Walk-ins are welcome and encouraged at both locations, or donors can use the QR code on the corresponding flyer to schedule a specific time.

The USO also plans to be on-site during both events.

Every donation can make a difference. Help us support this statewide effort and ensure blood is available when it’s needed most.

September is Su***de Prevention Month a reminder that taking care of our people goes far beyond the uniform. It means checking in, listening and staying connected.

As we begin this important month, Iowa National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Stephen Osborn shares a message for our Soldiers, Airmen, families, friends and communities across Iowa.

Take a moment to listen and then think about the people in your life. Who could use a check-in today?

A simple “How are you doing?” can open the door. Stay connected, look out for one another and never underestimate the difference your presence can make.

It’s been nearly two months since 120 of our Iowa National Guard Soldiers mobilized to join Joint Task Force–District of Columbia (JTF-DC) in support of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission in Washington, D.C.

Since then, our Soldiers have patrolled the residential areas of D.C. every day, supporting emergency management services and local law enforcement while maintaining a visible presence in the community. They have also assisted residents and visitors in a variety of ways, including responding to medical emergencies, helping with disabled vehicles, providing directions and escorting people to their destinations.

It’s an honor to serve in D.C. Whether at home in Iowa or in the nation’s capital, we’re ALWAYS READY to help in times of need.

A night at the ballpark with a little extra firepower. ⚾💥

Iowa National Guard Soldiers joined the Cedar Rapids Kernels for Military Appreciation Night Aug. 27, celebrating those who serve the Iowa community.
The night featured a howitzer fire, service members taking the mound to throw out the first pitch and a reenlistment ceremony recognizing Soldiers who chose to continue their service in the Iowa National Guard.

Thank you to the Cedar Rapids Kernels and everyone who came out to support Iowa’s service members and their families. We’re proud to serve the communities that continue to support us.

Iowa takes the top spot at MAC V! 🏆🎯

Four Iowa National Guard marksmen brought home top honors from the 2026 Marksmanship Advisory Council Region V Regional Competition, earning 1st Place Combined Arms Team, 1st Place Rifle Team and 2nd Place Pistol Team.

Representing Iowa were Army 1st Lt. Alexander Rebling, Army SSG Kyle Thies, Army Sgt. Christian Bishop and Air Force SSgt Dallas Smith.

Iowa took first place in two of the three team matches, with Thies and Smith delivering standout performances in the individual competition.

Thies, Iowa's team captain, finished 1st overall in Combined Arms, 1st in rifle and 2nd in pistol. Smith finished 4th overall in Combined Arms and 2nd in rifle.

The pair also combined to win six of the eight individual courses of fire, each earning three first-place finishes.

Three Soldiers. One Airman. One Iowa team.

⚾ Military Appreciation Night is TONIGHT!

Join us at the Cedar Rapids Kernels as we celebrate Iowa’s service members, veterans and military families at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

🕡 First pitch: 6:30 p.m.

🎟️ Complimentary tickets are available for service members and veterans. Please bring a valid military ID or other proof of military service to receive your complimentary ticket.

We’ll see you at the ballpark! ⚾🇺🇸

📣 Save the Date! In celebration of the 250th anniversary of American Independence, Hoyt Sherman Place will partner with the 34th Army Band of the Iowa National Guard to present a free, outdoor public performance honoring the nation’s rich musical and civic traditions.
🇺🇸 This special event will take place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, on the historic grounds of Hoyt Sherman Place welcoming audiences of all ages for an accessible, community-centered celebration of America’s semiquincentennial.
🤝 This project is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for “Celebrating the Nation’s 250th Birthday with Music from U.S. Military Bands”.
