🇺🇸 Welcome Home, Red Bulls! 🇺🇸

Today in Council Bluffs, the Iowa National Guard proudly welcomed home approximately 45 Soldiers assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division, returning from deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

As part of the second of two welcome home ceremonies held across Iowa today, it was an honor to celebrate these Soldiers and witness the joy of reunions with family, friends, and loved ones after months of dedicated service overseas.

A special thank you to Lieutenant Governor Chris Cournoyer and the many state and community leaders who joined us in recognizing the sacrifices and accomplishments of these Soldiers. We are equally grateful to the families, employers, friends, and communities whose steadfast support helped sustain them throughout their deployment.

Homecomings like these serve as a powerful reminder that service is a shared commitment between our Soldiers and the people who stand behind them every step of the way.

Welcome home, Red Bulls. Your mission is complete, and Iowa is proud to have you back where you belong.

In Des Moines, we proudly welcomed home approximately 140 Soldiers assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Infantry Division. After months away from home, it was a special day filled with hugs, smiles, and long-awaited reunions as these Soldiers reconnected with their families, friends, and loved ones.

A special thank you to Governor Kim Reynolds, Congressman Zach Nunn, and the many state and community leaders who joined us in honoring these Soldiers and their service. On Emergency Medicine Day, we recognize the training, teamwork, and readiness required to respond when seconds matter.

Students assigned to the 185th Regional Training Institute’s 68W MOS-T course participated in a mass casualty exercise at Camp Dodge, Iowa, May 14, 2026. The training challenged Soldiers to apply triage, communication, casualty care, and evacuation procedures in a high-stress environment designed to build confidence and combat readiness.

Protecting Iowa’s elections takes teamwork.

Today, May 26, 2026, Iowa election officials highlighted the extensive, multi-layered security measures in place ahead of the June primary. The Iowa National Guard’s Joint Task Force Cyber continues to collaborate with state, local, and federal partners, including the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office, Iowa Department of Public Safety, Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the FBI, and county election officials from across all 99 counties.

Together, these partners are working around the clock to monitor threats, strengthen cyber defenses, and ensure the integrity, security, and transparency of Iowa’s electoral process.
