Happy Birthday, U.S. Army!
Established on June 14, 1775, the Army has a proud legacy of defending our nation's freedoms. Today, the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs honors all Iowa Soldiers—past and present—for their unwavering courage, service, and sacrifice.
Thank you to all the Iowans who have answered the call to wear the uniform. Hooah! 🛡️⭐️

Since its official establishment, June 14, 1775 — more than a year before the Declaration of Independence — the U.S. Army has played a vital role in the growth and development of the American nation.

CEDAR FALLS — Korean War veteran Sid Morris got to hug his grandson when he came home from Afghanistan in 2012 —instead of waiting for a flag-draped casket.
His grandson, Taylor Morris, an U.S. Navy ordnance disposal expert, lost portions of all four limbs in a bomb blast 14 years ago. Taylor made a grueling, determined, hard-earned recovery with the love and support of his high school sweetheart and wife Danielle, friends and family, including his grandpa.
