Washington County is included in a Flood WATCH issued by the US National Weather Service in effect until June 8, 08:00 PM EDT. ⚠️

Heavy rainfall is forecasted and you should prepare now by staying .

A Flood WATCH means that flooding is possible due to current weather conditions, rainfall, or storm forecast. It does not mean that flooding is occurring. Heavy rainfall may cause flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, low-lying areas, and places that commonly flood. Flooding is also possible in areas with poor drainage.

NEVER drive through flooded roadways. Just a small amount of moving water can carry a vehicle away. If you come across a flooded road, TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!

Showers and thunderstorms will move north into the area this afternoon through late tonight. Heavy rains, with rainfall of 1 to 3 inches per hour at times, will accompany these showers and storms and could lead to isolated flash flooding. The areas of most concern would be along and west of the Interstate 75 corridor, but heavy rains will be possible area wide.

A historic step forward for emergency preparedness in Northeast Tennessee.

WCJCEMA, alongside partners across Tennessee Emergency Management District 1, has helped purchase, equip, and distribute 8 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trailers to serve all 8 counties in the district.

Each trailer includes emergency response equipment like chainsaws, personal protective equipment, and other tools that can help communities during disasters, severe weather, debris removal, and other emergencies when local resources are stretched thin.

This regional effort strengthens the ability for counties to support one another and helps build stronger, more prepared communities across Northeast Tennessee.

WCJCEMA will also continue offering CERT training opportunities for community members interested in learning disaster response skills and helping their communities during emergencies.

This initiative was made possible through the support of Tennessee State CERT Coordinator Don Sowers, Pro Pac, SOS, Trailer King in Blountville, and East Tennessee Rent All in Johnson City.

Something has been on our hearts today.

First, we want to wish all mothers a Happy Mother’s Day.

Mothers wear many hats. They are caregivers, protectors, teachers, supporters, and often the ones holding families together through life’s best and hardest moments.

We also know days like today can be especially difficult for those missing their mothers, and for mothers missing their children.

Not a single day has gone by that members of our team have not thought about a mother and beloved member of our community — Mrs. Nancy Tucker — whose family, as of today, has now gone 590 nights without answers.

Mrs. Tucker — our teams have put in thousands of hours and continue searching for you. We have not given up, and we will not stop until you are home.
