🎉 Congratulations to Victoria on her graduation from the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Achieve Program! 🎉

Through hard work, determination, and goal-setting, Victoria successfully completed the program and achieved important personal milestones. Upon graduation, she was able to use her earned escrow funds to help make repairs and improvements to her new home. 🏡✨

We are proud of Victoria's accomplishments and excited to celebrate her success!

Interested in achieving your own goals?

FSS Achieve is a voluntary program for JCHA residents designed to help participants set and achieve personal goals that promote economic security and personal growth for individuals and families.

One of the benefits of the program is a financial incentive. When enrolled, any rent increases resulting from an increase in earned income are deposited into an escrow (managed savings) account. Once you successfully complete the program, those funds are paid directly to you.

To learn more about FSS Achieve, contact Tiffany Bernard at 423-509-2128 or email [email protected]

A big thank you to Anna and Jenny, Health Educators from the Washington County Health Department, for hosting a fun and informative event for the children at JCHA! 🎉

Through interactive lessons, activities, and engaging games, the kids learned about personal safety, being aware of their surroundings, making good choices, and other important life skills. It was a great opportunity for learning while having fun, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

We appreciate Anna and Jenny for sharing their knowledge and helping empower our youth with skills that will benefit them every day! đź’™

We’re so thankful for another great Resource & Employment Event on May 14, 2026. Our third annual event brought together local employers, community partners, and residents who showed up ready to connect and explore new opportunities.

The afternoon was full of good conversations, new connections, and a strong sense of community. We’re excited to keep these relationships going and continue building positive momentum here in Johnson City.

If you weren’t able to make it, there’s still time to get involved. Reach out to any of the participating organizations to learn more about the resources and opportunities they have available.

Honoring Those Who Give Their Time…Volunteers Make it Possible

This week is National Volunteer Week, centered around the theme “Ignite Volunteerism.” It’s a reminder of the power of giving back by inspiring passion, creating positive change, and strengthening our communities through service. The theme encourages people to reconnect with local causes and recognizes the important role volunteers play in building a brighter future.

“Ignite Volunteerism” is a call to action to get involved, build connections, and make a difference. It also highlights the importance of growing community participation, supporting volunteer efforts, and sharing stories of service. Most of all, this week celebrates volunteers as the heart of our communities and honors the compassion and dedication they bring every day.

We also want to give a special thank you to our volunteers at JCHA and everyone who helps with the food pantry, food delivery, Community Events and so many other volunteer activities. Your time, effort, and willingness to serve make a meaningful impact, and we are truly grateful for all that you do. THANK YOU!

🌱 Appalachian RC&D Pop‑Up Market Fun! 🌱
Appalachian RC&D recently hosted a Pop‑Up Market for the Keystone and Dunbar communities, and it was a wonderful experience for all!

Farmer Tiffany from A Different Chick Farm and Orchard joined us with beautiful leafy greens and fresh cucumbers, and she took time to answer all of our farming questions. We also had delicious local, farm‑fresh eggs available. 🥬🥒🥚

Sarah with UT Extension shared with us very tasty smoothie sample. Ashley with ARC&D prepared an amazing cold green pasta dish that several of us are already planning to add to our next party menu! 🥗✨

Everyone enjoyed learning more about local produce, where it comes from, and how to prepare it at home. A great day of learning, tasting, and community connection! đź’š

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. đź’™ Help JCHA and CAC1st raise awareness and be part of the effort to protect our children.

Awareness matters. It leads to understanding, early intervention, and prevention. The more we talk about it, the more we can make a difference.

Join us in spreading the word and supporting safe, healthy childhoods for all.

Money Monster and Games....Truist volunteers had a great time with the kids at Keystone, turning money and budgeting into a fun, hands-on experience. The kids asked thoughtful questions, shared their ideas, and really got into the activities. There were lots of smiles and plenty of learning along the way.

Thank you to Truist for spending time with our Keystone kids and helping them build smart money habits early on.

JCHA came together to recognize Human Trafficking Awareness Day by wearing blue shirts and ribbons in support of awareness and prevention. We were grateful to have Gracie from the Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking join us as we highlighted the importance of education, awareness, and taking action to reduce the vulnerabilities that can lead to trafficking and exploitation.

Our team also participated in the Red Sand Project, a visual and symbolic initiative launched in 2014 by Molly Gochman to bring attention to the ongoing reality of human trafficking and modern slavery. An estimated 50 million people worldwide are affected, including those trapped in forced labor, forced marriage, or sexual exploitation.

The grains of red sand represent individuals who fall through the cracks of our social, economic, and political systems, as well as moments when awareness is overlooked. We stand together to help ensure those cracks are seen, acknowledged, and addressed.
