Rising housing costs and limited options have made it harder for people who want to live here.

Yet our current trustees are choosing to fight against housing opportunities in the Town of Union instead of advocating for responsible growth that benefits Johnson City.

That’s not leadership. That’s protecting the status quo.

We need leaders who recognize the challenges facing our community and are willing to do something about them, not trustees who pretend Johnson City doesn’t need to change.

Halloween Costume Swap

Beginning Monday, September 28 through Friday, October 9, we will be collecting Halloween costumes and accessories for all ages. Items may be dropped off during operating hours at the library any time during those two weeks.

We asked Joe Picalila for Johnson City and Leona Perreault for Johnson City Trustee why they are running for Village Trustee. Here's what they said.

Joe: I decided to run because I believe local government works best when the people serving are visible, accessible, and fully engaged in the community.

Leona: I want residents to know who we are, what we believe, and why we’re asking for the opportunity to serve. We don’t have business interests that dictate our positions. We sure aren’t looking at public office as a path to personal enrichment.

Joe and Leona are running because they believe public service should be about serving the public.

✨️ Weekend Reflection

This has been a meaningful and busy weekend in our community.

💙 September is and we pause to raise awareness, support one another, and remind those who may be struggling that they are not alone.

Locally, we celebrated the arts with LUMA Projection Arts Festival.

On Friday, September 11, we memorialized and mourned those who lost their lives, while renewing our commitment to serving and strengthening our community for .

And as begins, we say Shanah Tovah and wish everyone sweet, peaceful New Year.

From remembering our past to celebrating our community through serving, and supporting one another, this weekend reminded us of the importance of coming together.
