During this season of thanks, we reflect on the tireless efforts of Habitat staff, volunteers, supporters, and advocates across the state that help to build hope, stability, and opportunity for hardworking families. There are no words to express our gratitude for all that you do to advance our mission and strengthen our communities!

This year brought a huge milestone many years in the making: the passage of the Fair Taxation and Assessment bill (S1718B / A355C). This long-awaited legislation ensures that low- and moderate-income Habitat homebuyers will finally be taxed on the true, affordable price of their home, not the inflated market value. It is a major victory for affordable housing in New York, and it will open the door for more families to achieve the dream of homeownership. We still have work ahead of us, but this is a major step towards achieving housing equity in New York!

We'd also like to thank our 2025 Affordable Housing Champion honorees, whose leadership and partnership helped turn this critical policy into reality: Senator Michelle Hinchey and Amy Kramer and Anthony Rodolakis with Ostroff Associates. Special shout out to last year's winner, Assemblymember Didi Barrett who brought this legislation forward.

Your commitment to equity in housing has changed the landscape for families across our state, and we are honored to celebrate your work.
