And we will be faithful stewards of our freedoms of equality, religion and expressions so that men and women of all races and faiths can live, follow their beliefs and express their views without fear of discrimination or reprisal

✨ Dressed up, inspired, and feeling hopeful! 💙
WCDP had a blast at the TNDP Three Star Dinner last weekend in Nashville—good people, great energy, lots of mingling, and an unforgettable solo performance by Jason Isbell. 🎶 It was a great way to head into the November election season.

We condemn the Washington County Commission’s decision to select the District 13 Commissioner. The denial of a run-off election is a slap in the face of District 13 voters.

🌼 Tennessee’s Wildflower 🌷
Born in the mountains of East Tennessee, she carried her Appalachian roots with her wherever she went—and she never stopped giving back to the people and places that helped shape her. From investing in her home county and it’s people - including rebuilding lives and businesses affected by fire and flood, to giving millions of children the gift of reading through the Imagination Library, Dolly has spent a lifetime proving that success means even more when you use it to lift others up.
She grew through hardship, turned a “coat of many colors” into a symbol of pride, and showed the world that there is room for everyone. She welcomed people from all walks of life, and understood that diversity makes a community stronger. She loved fiercely, dreamed boldly, and kept growing where others might have said she couldn’t.
A true Tennessee wildflower—rooted in Appalachia, blooming wherever she was planted, and leaving the world a little brighter than she found it. The stage lights have gone out and her rhinestones are now dim, but her legacy will live on within each of us. 🌼❤️

We condemn the hateful post from the local Republican Party. It is not thoughtful political discourse. It is cruel, divisive, and demeaning to women in our community. Women’s lives, pregnancies, families, and reproductive decisions cannot be reduced to a political meme. WCDP rejects this kind of rhetoric and we will continue to advocate for our values without degrading women who believe differently from us. The Tennessee Holler Tennessee Democratic Party

📚✊ READ & RESIST | AUGUST/SEPTEMBER BOOK CLUB
This month, we’re giving you a choice! Rather than selecting one book, we’ve chosen three thought-provoking titles exploring fascism, authoritarianism, history, and the ways the past can shape our present and future.
📖 They Thought They Were Free by Milton Mayer
📖 Erasing History by Jason Stanley
📖 Shadows of the Republic by Omer Aziz
Choose one—or read them all! At our September gathering, we’ll talk about what we learned, what we already knew, what surprised or challenged us, and most importantly, how these ideas connect to the world we live in today.
🗓️ September 23 at 6:30 PM
📍 WCDP Headquarters
Come ready for thoughtful conversation, different perspectives, and plenty of questions. Everyone is welcome—even if you didn’t finish your book!
Understanding history matters. Asking hard questions matters. And, as always, reading is resistance. 📚✊
