The Johnsburg Police Department Youth Police Academy gives local teens a unique opportunity to learn directly from police officers and public safety professionals. Participants will get hands-on exposure to police operations, investigations, K-9 demonstrations, emergency response, and much more.

🚓🔥 2026 McHenry County Torch Run for Special Olympics 🔥🚓

Last Saturday, members of law enforcement agencies from across McHenry County came together for the McHenry County leg of the Torch Run for Special Olympics.

The 3.6-mile run began at Rescue Squad Park in Johnsburg and concluded at Walmart, with officers, deputies, and supporters carrying the Flame of Hope through our community in support of Special Olympics athletes.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is more than just a run—it is a year-round movement dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Special Olympics, helping provide opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities to train, compete, and achieve their goals.

The Johnsburg Police Department would like to thank all participating law enforcement agencies, volunteers, supporters, and community members who helped make this event a success. Most importantly, we thank the incredible Special Olympics athletes who inspire us every day through their determination, courage, and perseverance. A special thank you to the Johnsburg Walmart for generously providing water, Gatorade, and bananas for participants at the finish line. Your support and hospitality were greatly appreciated by everyone involved.

May might be over, but our favorite little green reminder is still out and about to show that mental health awareness doesn't stop just because the calendar flipped to June!

We want to send a massive THANK YOU to our incredible community for your amazing involvement, support, and conversations throughout the month of May. You all truly make Johnsburg a safer, kinder, and more supportive place to live.

🐤 Sometimes the ducks find some unexpected friends along the way… 🦆🐸

Over the course of the campaign, we’ve seen our little green ducks turn up in some pretty unique places throughout the community—and apparently they’ve started making friends with local wildlife too.

From ducklings… to frogs… to cranes… these moments have brought smiles, conversations, and reminders that even small things can brighten someone’s day.
