April is Sexual Assault Awareness + Action Month. This month (and every month!) we take the time to echo survivors' voices, perspectives, and needs; when we intentionally honor their courage, strength, resiliency, and creativity. It is also a time to ask how we can nurture healthy relationships in our community, focus on prevention, create systems of healing, and demand a future free of sexual violence.

"Seeing Hope" by Maryea Torrey, is the first piece featured in this year's Reclaim/Reclama magazine, and is a wonderful embodiment of what SAAM means to us here at SARC.

If you need to tell someone, we have an advocate available to listen, support, and provide resources for your path to healing.

Did you know that a significant number of sexual assaults go unreported? 📉💔

Statistics reveal that fear, shame, and a lack of trust in the system are just a few reasons why survivors may choose to stay silent. It's crucial to create an environment where victims feel supported and empowered to come forward.

Let's raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding this issue. Together, we can encourage open conversations and promote healing.

It's April 1, don't be a fool, find compaisson for the survivors in your life. Statistics say either you, or someone you know have been affected. Offer support through a battle that many continue to heal from, as April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and it can be a lifelong journey to navigate.

Sending love this Sexual Assault Awareness Month to ALL GENDERS. 💙🩷

If you need help creating your safety plan, we can help.

If you need help creating your safety plan, we can help.

When “nothing happens” after abuse is reported, it can feel like the system is saying it doesn’t matter. 💜

Domestic violence can be hard to prosecute—but abusers may still be held accountable through other charges that rely on clearer evidence, like weapons violations, stalking, fraud, drugs, or child endangerment. Those cases can carry serious penalties and, in some situations, create a real window of safety by removing the abuser from the home.

If an abuser is incarcerated, that time can be used strategically: update a safety plan, strengthen legal protections, improve home/security steps, document what’s happening, and work with advocates so you’re safer both now and when release happens. 🛡️

What’s one safety step you wish more people knew about—or what would you tell a friend who feels stuck right now?
