The entire Scotia Range Complex will be closed starting at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12 through Saturday, June 13 for the annual Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC).

This event is designed for youth, 18 and under, to improve their hunting, marksmanship, and safety skills. Through simulated hunting situations, live fire exercises, and educational and responsibility events, YHEC helps build skills learned in basic hunter education courses and encourages safer, lifelong hunting habits.

The Game Commission’s Scotia Range Complex has hosted the state level competition for several decades and we're excited to see the young competitors return again in 2026.

Thank you for your understanding. More information can be found on the NRA website: https://bit.ly/PA-YHEC

We’re connecting students with conservation in the northern tier!

Recently, the entire Smethport Elementary School 6th grade class experienced an outdoor education camp packed with hands-on learning about Pennsylvania wildlife and conservation.

During this two-day program, students learned more about bird banding, archery, wildfire prevention, fi****ms safety, elk and wild turkeys and discovered the importance of our native wildlife and habitats.

We loved seeing these students connect with the outdoors and learning the importance of protecting our natural resources. Thank you to the students, teachers, volunteers, and staff who helped make this experience possible!

If you are interested in scheduling a program or outdoor education experience like this for your school or group, reach out to your regional Game Commission office to learn more. You can call 1-833-PGC-WILD or visit pa.gov/pgc to contact us.

It’s time to make THIS SUMMER a memorable one!

Across PA, regional offices are getting ready for their annual Junior Game Warden Camps where youth, ages 12 to 15, can spend the day learning what it’s like to be a Pennsylvania state game warden.

Campers will join wardens in light physical fitness, confidence-building exercises, and hands-on learning stations.

They’ll have the opportunity to go all-in with wildlife forensics, wildlife-capture techniques, woodland tracking, outdoor survival, and all things wild!

There will be six camps hosted across our state, in each of the regions, with varying dates throughout the summer. The Northcentral Region's Junior Game Warden Camp will be held at the Scotia Range Complex (SGL 176) in Warriors Mark on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
