Dear Friend of Jersey City,
On behalf of Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, the Jersey City Municipal Council, the Mayor's Action Bureau, the Office of Emergency Management, Department of Health & Human Services, Division of Cultural Affairs and the good people of Jersey City, thank you for your friendship and generosity in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy! We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support by not only local residents, but various individuals and companies from far and wide.
As Jersey City focuses on restoring all government functions, we are providing this list of local charities in need of your generosity to assist residents recovering from the storm. We are hopeful that this comprehensive list will assist generous donors and non-profits in finding one another - connecting donations to specific needs.

SPECIAL NEEDS IDENTIFIED: Each year the City of Jersey City Mayor’s Action Bureau conducts a holiday toy drive. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the need is expected to increase exponentially in Jersey City. The Mayor’s Action Bureau begins collection of NEW toys Monday, November 26th. If you would like to donate new toys, please contact the Mayor’s Action Bureau before delivery due to storage constraints. ****REGISTRATION for those in need, will be announced in the coming weeks.****
JERSEY CITY SANDY RECOVERY

Description: An all-volunteer grassroots organization, which formed locally in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
Effective immediately, Jersey City Sandy Recovery is only accepting donations that are already en route and are distributing what is on hand to the remaining service requests in their system through Tuesday, November 13. If you have a shipment arriving to Barrow Mansion that the group doesn’t know about, please send an email ASAP to [email protected]. Any remaining donations will be redistributed to pantries, shelters and social service organizations impacted by Sandy starting immediately.

MOUNT SINAI GOSPEL CHURCH

Every third Tuesday of the Month, Mount Sinai provides meals and provisions to 1,000 people in need.

The City of Jersey City is well on its way to full restoration. That would not have occurred without your help and generosity! We are so proud of the citizens of Jersey City for their compassion, patience and acts of kindness towards one another to rebuild after this crisis. The partnerships that have developed in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy are amazing and have only strengthened the resolve and resilience of our community.
