Jersey City understands prosecution is more than bringing a case to court. We value making domestic violence survivors whole by easing the challenges of coming to court and giving resources for success after their cases are closed.

Therefore, Jersey City is in the midst of creating the “Safe Serenity Room” at the Lewis S. MCrae Municipal Justice Complex. This will be a secure and private space for survivors of domestic violence to prevent any in-person encounters with their abusers during court proceedings.

Starting tomorrow, Friday, October 1st, Jersey City's Local Heat Ordinance takes effect until April 30, 2022.

This means a certain degree of heat must be provided by your landlord or place of employment - please see public notice below for details.

A special thanks to The Resident Response Center for their efforts and hard work over the last week handling incoming constituent calls and concerns.

Due to the severity of Superstorm Ida, the Division of Quality of Life is receiving a high volume of calls regarding downed tree branches, ceiling leaks, and flooding.

In order to best serve our constituents, we are extending the hours of the Residence Response Center and the Office of Code Compliance to 8:00pm in order to assist with recovery.

The JCPD has launched a "Park & Walk" initiative to encourage positive interactions between the community and its officers. Walking patrols are incorporated into officers’ tours, and as a result, officers are more familiar with the residents of each block and the particular needs of each neighborhood.⠀

Last week I joined a walking tour on Friday to show support for the correlation between increased foot patrol and enhanced quality of life. When the community and our police work closely together, more problems are solved and more meaningful connections are made between city services and our residents.

The municipal prosecutor’s office is excited to see JCPD take this initiative.

Today spent time with the Patrol Bureau to learn about their “Park & Walk” initiative for increased foot patrol and positive community interaction. Walking patrols are incorporated into officers’ tours to increase connections with the residents we serve. 🗽

The City's new Quality of Life Division under the Prosecutor's Office will partner with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection to receive equipment and training to further strengthen our investigations and prosecutions of illegal dumpers.

Illegal dumping attracts more dumping, as well as blight and disorder in our neighborhoods. It’s a cycle we will put an end to with zero tolerance toward offenders. These offenders are often businesses and contractors, and we’ll bring them to court.

Communities participating in the initial launch of the Project include Camden, Fairfield, Jersey City, Linden, Newark, Paterson, Salem, Secaucus, Trenton, Vernon and Vineland.
