“I lost a hundred and something pounds.” 💚

Now THAT is a testimony.

At our Jersey City Farm Stand, one of our shoppers shared that fresh fruits and vegetables have been an important part of her incredible health journey—and that our farm stand helps make those foods affordable and accessible to her.

Her accomplishment belongs to her. The discipline. The choices. The commitment to her health.

Our job is to help make sure access isn’t the obstacle.

To date, 3,620 shoppers have visited our Jersey City Farm Stand for fresh fruits and vegetables at no cost.

🥕 That’s 3,620 opportunities to put fresh food within reach.
🥦 3,620 opportunities to support the health of our neighbors.
🥗 3,620 reminders that food access is health infrastructure.

During Hunger Action Month, we extend a special thank you to the Hudson County Executive, Hudson County Board of Commissioners, and Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services for investing in an initiative that helps Hudson County residents live happier, healthier lives.

That’s not just a number.

That’s 26,647 times our neighbors have shown up at a Fresh by Ujamaa Café Farm Stand and trusted us to be part of how they feed themselves and their families.

During Hunger Action Month, we’re celebrating more than the food we distribute. We’re celebrating the people, relationships and communities that have grown around it.

From Jersey City to North Bergen, Hoboken, Kearny, Bayonne and beyond, every farm stand reminds us of something we deeply believe:

Food can do more than nourish. Food can build community.

We’re especially excited to join our friends at the North Bergen Public Library’s Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday! The full fair runs from 10 AM–2 PM with FREE health screenings, consultations, resources and more — and we’ll be there from 11 AM–1 PM bringing the fresh produce! 🥦💚

And September is just getting started. 👀 We’ll also be popping up at Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Jersey City and Bayonne Economic Opportunity later this month.

Andddd… a few more locations are coming soon. 👀🌱

“We sit, we socialize, and at the end of the day we get a lot of goodies to go home with. And everybody is happy.”

Honestly, she said it better than we could. 💚

Because our farm stands were never intended to be simply about handing someone a bag of produce.

They're about creating spaces where people can access good food with dignity, connect with their neighbors, build relationships and maybe sit and socialize for a little while, too.

And apparently leave with some goodies. We support that. 😂

**To date, our Fresh by Ujamaa Cafe farm stand just at NBPL has served 11,191 visitors**

That kind of impact doesn't happen alone.

During Hunger Action Month, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Hudson County Executive, Hudson County Board of Commissioners and Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services for investing in this work, and to the North Bergen Public Library for being an extraordinary partner in health.

But our biggest thank you belongs to our community.

⚠️ PLEASE NOTE:�We will NOT be at The View from 2:00–4:00 PM tomorrow.

👉🏾 For tomorrow’s farm stand, guests may begin lining up at 4:30 PM. Please do not arrive to line up before 4:30 PM.

NASHVILLE, BABY… WE’RE HERE! 🤠🤎🌱

Today we officially unboxed our Ujamaa Café at and y’all… this one feels REAL special. 🥹

What started as a little idea rooted in dignity, choice, community and making good food easier to access has officially made its way to Nashville, Tennessee!

This is a historic moment for our Ujamaa Café program and for the Coalition for Food and Health Equity. We don’t take for granted what it means to be welcomed into a new community and trusted to bring this work with us.

And listen… Auntie may have gotten a little emotional seeing that Ujamaa Café sitting pretty in Nashville. 😂 Because every new Café means another community, another partnership and another opportunity to rethink what food access can look like.

We’re grateful to The Store Nashville for opening their doors and saying yes to this vision.

Just a little reminder from me and the CFHE crew to our farm stand family 🩷🌱

We’re on summer recess this week resting, hydrating, taking some naps and getting ready for a busy fall + winter!

But mostly, I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for the love, the feedback, and for growing Fresh by Ujamaa Café with us. What we’re building continues to get better because of YOU.

We miss y’all this week, but we’ll be BACK NEXT WEEK: rested, recharged, and with some exciting things in the works. 👀🌱

Hey ya’ll! Our CFHE team is taking a little summer break from August 24 through September 1 to rest, recharge, and get ready for a beautiful fall season of nourishing our communities. 💚

During our recess:

🥬 Fresh by Ujamaa Café Farm Stands: There will be no farm stands this week.

🧊 Ujamaa Café Refrigerators: Refrigerators will not be restocked during the recess period.

✨ We’ll resume farm stands and Ujamaa Café refrigerator restocking beginning September 1st!

We’re hiring Farm Stand Assistants to help us bring fresh food, good energy, and a whole lotta community love to our Fresh by Ujamaa Café Farm Stands across Hudson County. 💚

We’re looking for at least TWO amazing humans who are:

📍 Local to Hudson County�🚗 Able to reliably get to our farm stand locations�📅 Available Wednesdays + Thursdays�🌱 Open to occasional weekend farm stands�⚡ Ready to start ASAP!
