City of Jerome, Idaho

City of Jerome, Idaho City of Jerome, Idaho The very first lot was sold in Jerome at a public auction on September 30, 1907.

In the heart of Idaho’s Magic Valley, Jerome is a rural community surrounded by fertile irrigated farmland, desert valleys, the majestic Snake River Canyon, and the inspiring Sawtooth Mountains. As of the year 2010, the City of Jerome has grown to more than 10,890 residents and covers a geographic area just over five and one-half square miles. Just in the last decade, the City has seen more rapid

growth at a rate of approximately 4.2% annually. Jerome continues to be one of the fastest growing medium sized communities in Idaho and long-term population increases are anticipated. With the funding assistance from the Economic Development Administration (EDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Idaho Department of Commerce (IDC), the City of Jerome has been able to extend sewer and some water services into its strategic growth triangle. The growth triangle contains approximately 17 square miles of developable lands. The area contained in the City’s strategic growth triangle will provide for the expansion of new neighborhoods for a rapidly growing population base that will accompany anticipated economic development and redevelopment opportunities.

On Wednesday, July 15th, at 8:00 am, water will be shut off due to noncompliance with backflow testing. If you have any questions or need confirmation that Public Works received the test, please contact them at 208-324-9669.

Remember, this is the last week to have your backflow test submitted to the City. Any lawn sprinklers connected to potable water (the City's drinking water) must have a backflow preventer installed and tested by June 1st of each year.

A backflow device acts as a one-way gate, allowing water to flow in one direction but preventing it from flowing backward. Its primary job is to protect the clean drinking water supply from contamination by stagnant or non-potable water.
