On this morning 25 years ago...

246 people were getting ready for their morning flights.

2,606 people were commuting to their place of work.

343 firefighters were preparing for the morning shift or preparing to enjoy their day off.

60 police officers arrived at work ready for morning patrol or morning squad meeting.

Eight paramedics prepared for morning duty.

None of them had any idea of the unconscionable evil that would happen in the next couple hours on September 11, 2001.

In one single moment, every single thing changed.

As you prepare for today, think of the survivors and their families. Think of the loved ones of those who didn’t make it out alive. Think of the victims and heroes of that historic day.

And then never, ever forget. 🇺🇸🗽

Members from the City of Jenks, Jenks Public Schools, Jenks Chamber, Oklahoma Aquarium, Jenks Police Department & Jenks Fire & Rescue are spending the day touring, listening, and learning in Summerville, South Carolina as part of the Jenks Chamber Intercity Visit.

Hearing from the different leaders here involved in town administration, economic development, tourism, workforce development, public safety, Council members, and the Chamber of Commerce is beneficial to understanding best practices in other communities and, also, discovering what could be successful in our our own community.

Summerville is also learning more about Jenks. What we all agree on is every city in every part of the country is facing similar barriers to their neighbor. Sitting in the same room learning from each other is one way we are all collaborating to face some of these barriers head on to help our communities thrive.

Big thank you to Town of Summerville, SC and Summerville Chamber for hosting us! Additional thank you to the Jenks Chamber for organizing the visit!

🔥 Burn Ban Extended Through September 21

From Tulsa County : The burn ban issued for Tulsa County on September 3 has been extended through Monday, September 21, 2026, due to continued extreme fire danger.

The Board of County Commissioners approved the extension during this morning’s meeting after a majority of the county’s municipal and rural fire chiefs agreed that the burn ban should remain in place.

The burn ban does not apply to gas or electric grills used on non-flammable surfaces or to industrial welding on non-flammable surfaces.

Please avoid outdoor burning and take extra precautions to help prevent wildfires.
