🚨 JPSPD FLEET UPDATE 🚨

In an effort to improve response times and increase maneuverability across campus environments, Jenks Public Schools Police Department is excited to announce the addition of a new specialized unit:

🏍️ “Rapid Response Mini Bike Unit” 🏍️

Due to increased congestion during arrival, dismissal, and major school events, these units will allow officers to navigate tight spaces, sidewalks, and high-traffic areas more efficiently than traditional patrol vehicles.

Beginning next week:

🏍️ Officers will be deployed on mini bike units during peak times
🚨 Units are equipped with emergency lights, sirens, and essential gear
📍 Focus areas will include parking lots, bus lanes, and interior campus roadways

⚠️ Operational Notes:

• These units are designed for quick movement and rapid positioning
• Students are reminded not to attempt to keep up with or follow the unit
• Yes… they are as fast as they look

⚠️ Additional considerations:

• Requests for rides will not be approved
• Naming suggestions for the units are currently under review
• “Mini bike sightings” are expected to increase dramatically

This addition reflects our continued commitment to adapting and improving how we serve and protect the Trojan Family.

(You may want to check today’s date before asking how to join the unit 😉)

Excitement filled Mrs. Laura Hilborne’s Pre-K classroom at Jenks East Elementary recently as the students received a special visit from Officer Miller! As part of their Community Helpers unit this week, Officer Miller spent time sharing what it’s like to serve and protect the community.

Officer Miller did an amazing job explaining his daily responsibilities in a way the students could understand, and he answered lots of curious and thoughtful questions from the class. The students were fully engaged and loved learning about how he helps keep everyone safe!

Mrs Hilborne’s class was grateful to Officer Miller for taking time out of his day to visit on the spur of the moment and create such a meaningful, memorable experience for the young learners.

Due to some hazardous neighborhood streets and bus stop locations, Jenks Public Schools is CLOSED tomorrow-Wednesday, January 28. Wednesday is a traditional snow day. It is not a distance learning day.

Although main roads have drastically improved over the past few days, we must be able to ensure safe transportation and safe access to our school campuses for students, staff, and visitors. These decisions are not made lightly. We understand extended school closures are difficult for some families, but we will continue to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

All Community Education programs are canceled Wednesday, and the Early Childhood Center (Little Trojan Academy) will be closed. All activities and athletic events scheduled for Wednesday are canceled.

This snow day will have to be made up at the end of the school year. No decisions have been made about Thursday.

Can any of the elementary kids guess which media center Officer Miller was in? 🐘📚

Officer Miller read Elephants Cannot Dance! by Mo Willems so it could be shared online, giving kids who may be stuck at home because of the weather a chance to hear a story read by a real police officer! 🚓❄️

👉 Even if something feels hard at first, it’s okay to try—and it’s okay to be YOU!

Elementary friends watching from home, what was your favorite part of the story? 💬

Thank you, Officer Miller, for helping bring story time to our kids—no matter the weather! ⭐

KEEP NEW YEAR’S EVE OUT OF THE UPSIDE DOWN, TROJAN FAMILY

As we ring in the New Year, let’s keep things right-side up and make sure everyone makes it home safely.

🚫 Don’t drink and drive. One bad choice can open a door you can’t close.
🚗 Plan your ride home now. A solid plan beats getting lost in the Upside Down.
🎆 Celebrate responsibly. Illegal fireworks belong in Hawkins, not our neighborhoods.

Let’s start the year like the good guys do, looking out for each other, making smart decisions, and keeping the night fun for the right reasons.

From all of us at JPS Police, Happy New Year. Stay safe and stay right-side up
