On April 27th, La Cueva Fire District, SCFR responded to a hiker who had fallen in the Village of Jemez Springs.
LCFD arrived on scene around 6:30pm and the last unit was back in house at 5:30am the following morning.

The drone purchased by our auxiliary proved once again to be a critical piece of equipment. Working alongside the Sheriff’s Office drone, it located the patient and guided responders directly to them until rotary wing assets arrived. Classic Air provided lighting support and the New Mexico National Guard completed the extraction by hoist.

To the community of Jemez Springs, thank you. The members of the Zen Bodhi Center showed up to the command post with hot coffee in the middle of the night. Monique and Los Ojos had breakfast burritos and hot coffee ready at 4am. That kind of support means more than people know.
This call brought together La Cueva Fire District, Sandoval County Fire Rescue, NMSP SAR, and surrounding agencies. The coordination was seamless from start to finish. Proud of everyone involved.
