Today, on National Women in Law Enforcement day, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank all of the incredible women serving in law enforcement here at the Jeffersonville Police Department.

Thank you for your courage, strength, compassion, and dedication to protecting and serving your communities. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and the sacrifices you make each day are deeply appreciated.

To every woman who wears the badge thank you for being a leader, a role model, and a source of strength for those around you. Your presence and service are making a difference.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the civilian women who provide support for our law enforcement agencies nationwide.

Today, during the early afternoon hours, the Jeffersonville Police Department conducted a warrant service at the Gardenside Apartments in an effort to locate Markel Lee Swan, who was wanted on an active felony warrant out of Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Swan was wanted on charges related to domestic violence, strangulation, wanton endangerment, fi***rm possession, witness intimidation, and fleeing from law enforcement.

After officers established a perimeter around the residence, Swan attempted to flee out the rear of the apartment but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

Swan was transported to the Clark County Jail on his outstanding warrant.

This is another great example of a successful outcome that ensures the safety of our community!

Cpl Salisbury doing what he does best!

Mayor Mike Moore was out walking the dogs when he came across Officer Salisbury helping a family carry their groceries into their house.

Just a sweet reminder that some of the best acts of kindness happen when you think no one is watching.

On this Labor Day weekend, we are so thankful for the Jeffersonville Police Department and the Jeffersonville Fire Dept., who are always looking for ways to help and make our community a little better!

Six Hoosier law enforcement leaders are currently taking part in FBI National Academy Session #299, joining law enforcement leaders from across the country and around the world for 10 weeks of advanced training, leadership development and professional networking.

One of the great joys of our service is to be among all these awesome students, teachers and their families. We had a blast! Thanks for having us!

*** Update: The roundabout is open ***

🚨🚨🚨Overturned Semi🚨🚨🚨

The roundabout currently has an overturned semi, leaving one lane available. Thankfully, there were no injuries.

Please avoid the area if possible until officers and the on-scene tow trucks can safely open the roadway.

When you tell the police you’ve been doing this since you were 11.. but 7 years ago drones weren’t a tool like they are now.

Foot pursuit 🏃💨 + drone deployment 🚁 + inground pool = late night swim 🏊‍♂️and being taken into custody 🚨🚔

Apparently the suspects previous vehicle break-ins didn’t include the latest technology update 😂

You can run. You can hide. When the drone has the high ground.. and you accidentally end up in someone’s pool it’s pretty much game over.

Through this investigation a stolen fi***rm was also recovered and taken off the streets and out of the hands of individuals who wish to do harm in our community.

Great work to our patrol units, Clark County 911 and our DFR operators.

Update:

The scene is secure and traffic is unobstructed. Police still remain in the area conducting an investigation.

Avoid the area of the 1300 block of E. Court Avenue due to police activity. SWAT Team is on the scene. The situation is contained and there is no danger to the general public!
