"I never set out to write a book. I set out to listen.”

This month's JTPL Story is about Lillian Rose: local immigration advocate, author, and founder of Hispanic Connection of Southern Indiana. We spoke to her about her new book, "The Church Lady's Diary," before she visits us this month in Clarksville!

Lillian's book is about her story and the story of dozens of local immigrants she has assisted throughout her last 25 years of advocacy. You can check out a copy from our catalog or buy one when she visits us on the 26th!

It's week three of Library Card Sign-up Month!

We have several book club meetings this week as well as a great calligraphy program on Thursday with a few spots left.

And don't forget, we're still accepting designs for our library card design contest for ages 6-17. If you're interested in signing up, ask your librarian for an application. We've had some great ones so far!

You can find out more about these programs and more on our online calendar 👇

Did you know JTPL hosts free HSE and ELL courses?

One of JTPL’s mottos is the promotion of lifelong learning. So, we partner with River Valley Resources (RVR) to hold adult education classes every week at our Jeffersonville location.

The RVR HSE (formerly GED) classes are for students of any age to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma and are hosted every Monday and Thursday.

RVR’s English Language Learning (ELL) classes are for students to learn English in a hands-on classroom environment on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Both classes are free, and you can visit RVR’s website to sign up today.

The Museum of Abandoned Bookmarks is back! (now in two locations)

The MoAB is an award-winning museum that tells the story of human experience through the misplaced Burger King receipts, old Yu-Gi-Oh cards, and five-dollar bills we use to keep our place in our favorite books.

What stories do our lost bookmarks tell? Did Houston really have a possum? Did this birthday card ever make it to its intended recipient? Come by either JTPL library branch to find out.

As always, if you find your own long-lost bookmark in our museum, you can talk to a librarian about bringing it back home with you.

Have you heard Beyblades are back in style?

We have three featured events this week including a Beyblade Tournament for our youth patrons on Saturday! If your kids have been talking about Beyblades nonstop, we've got you covered.

We also have an author event with Don Gulbrandsen on Wednesday. Don has visited every state park in Indiana, and we're excited to learn all about it with him and his new book.

Finally, on Thursday we have a home buying program from our professional partners. If you're thinking of purchasing in the future, there's a lot to learn from them!

You can find more details about these events and more on our web calendar 👇

This is a fantastic resource whether your kids are learning a new language or need access to more books in your native tongue.
