Town of Cambridge Vermont Granted on November 7, 1780, Cambridge was chartered on August 13, 1781 to Samuel Robinson, John Fassett, Jr., Jonathan Frost and 64 others.

It was first settled in 1783 by John Safford from Piermont, New Hampshire.

Subject: Underhill Bridge/Road Closure

Pleasant Valley Road in Underhill will be closed for a major bridge reconstruction project near the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and Deane Road, which is approximately 1 mile north of the intersection of Upper Pleasant Valley Road and Lower Pleasant Valley Road.

The closure will start on June 22nd and the bridge will remain closed into September.

Pleasant Valley Road will be open to Deane Road, from Cambridge, for local traffic only.

Pleasant Valley Road to the Valley Dream Farm, Butler’s Farm, and Moose Mountain Maple, from Cambridge, will be open. The remainder of Irish Settlement Road, past Moose Mountain Maple, will be open to local traffic only. Please utilize Vermont Route 15 when traveling to Underhill Center or Underhill Flats from Cambridge.

Road Closure Notice- Westman Road

On Wednesday May 27th from 7:30am to 2:30 pm, the Town of Cambridge Highway Department will be closing Westman Road between #633 and #823 to replace a culvert. Westman road will remain open to the Pleasant Valley (Underhill side) and Upper Pleasant Valley Road (Jeffersonville side).

From VTrans:
VTrans' contractor Pike Industries will begin paving on Wednesday 5/20 (weather permitting) on Route 108 South starting from the Jeffersonville Village limits, for a distance of 3 miles (near Edwards Rd). It is anticipated that this work will take approximately 1 week to complete with line striping operations to follow shortly after completion. Please use caution and plan for minor delays while this work is occurring.

River road in Cambridge in the area of #181 will be closed from 7am-4pm (possibly sooner) Thursday April 23rd to allow a contractor to remove trees around overhead utilities and a building.

The Town of Cambridge is seeking a qualified contractor to install a small concrete pad for a condenser unit and a short walkway located at the Town Office Building at 85 Church Street in Jeffersonville.

Dog Control Officer

The Town of Cambridge is seeking a Dog Control Officer. This is a part-time position that will work closely with the Deputy Dog Control Officer and Town Staff.

The Dog Control Officer is responsible for administering the “Ordinance Regulating Dogs and Wolf Hybrids.” The complete Job Description can be found at: www.cambridgevt.gov. **Dog Licenses for 2026 due by April 1st, 2026**

Reminder that this includes all dogs within the Town of Cambridge, including the Jeffersonville/Cambridge Villages.

Dog Licensing & Ordinance:

By State Statute, all dogs must be licensed on or before April 1st of each year (V.S.A. 20 § 3581).
All dogs six months of age or older must be licensed and wear a collar and tag at all times. If the rabies certificate is still current and is on file in the Town Clerk's Office, you do not need to bring a copy of the rabies certificate in order to license your dog. If the rabies certificate has expired, you must bring a copy of the new rabies certificate in order to license your dog.

Cost Until 04/01/26:
Spayed/Neutered - $11.00 per dog
Not Spayed/Neutered - $15.00 per dog

Cost After 04/01/26:
Spayed/Neutered - $13.00
Not Spayed/Neutered - $19.00

Cash and check preferred, credit/debit card payments will incur additional fees collected by the card processing company.
If mailing in dog registration, please include rabies certificate and check made out to: Town of Cambridge.
