Mark Russell - Jeffersontown City Council

Mark Russell - Jeffersontown City Council Mark Russell serves on the Jeffersontown City Council For over 30 years, the Russell family has called Jeffersontown home. Giving back is a passion of mine.

We’ve raised our children here, enjoying the well-maintained neighborhoods and family-friendly atmosphere that make this city so special. Jeffersontown’s beauty and close-knit community spirit are what drew us here and what have kept us rooted. As, a candidate for Jeffersontown City Council, my goal is to build upon the qualities that make our city a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a fami

ly. I will be a voice for preserving Jeffersontown’s charm and character while thoughtfully planning for responsible growth. Our community deserves development that enhances our quality of life, not detracts from it. With decades of experience in the insurance industry at Arthur J. Gallagher, I have the business acumen to manage city finances prudently. More importantly, through my extensive community involvement, I understand the priorities and values of Jeffersontown residents. I currently chair the Jeffersontown Economic Development Authority, Plainview Residents Association, and the Envision Jeffersontown Steering Committee. Previously, I served on the board of the Jeffersontown Chamber of Commerce. I volunteer regularly with organizations like Dare to Care and The First Tee to support important causes and make a positive impact. On City Council, I’ll bring that same spirit of service to give Jeffersontown residents the responsible, ethical leadership they deserve. Jeffersontown is a gem that’s near and dear to my heart. I’ll work tirelessly to protect its character while embracing positive change that improves our community for all residents. I humbly ask for your vote. Mark Russell

Thank you to everyone who voted today and to all the people I’ve had the opportunity to meet along the campaign trail.

Whether we talked at your door, at community events, over coffee, or through a quick conversation around town, I truly appreciate your support, encouragement, and willingness to share your thoughts about Jeffersontown’s future.

I look forward to continuing to serve our community and interacting with even more great folks across JTown in the days ahead.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: MOSER ROAD & WATTERSON TRAIL CLOSURE 🚧

Residents and commuters should be aware of an upcoming temporary closure at the intersection of Moser Road and Watterson Trail related to a Louisville Metro Public Works improvement project.

📍 Project Purpose:
The project will extend the right turn lane on Moser Road to improve traffic flow, increase safety, and support future transportation improvements planned for this corridor.

🛠 Planned Improvements Include:
• Extension of the right turn lane storage area
• Excavation and roadway work
• Tree removal
• Erosion control measures
• Additional infrastructure improvements

📅 Closure Schedule:
🚫 Full intersection closure expected:
June 1, 2026 – July 3, 2026
(weather permitting)

🚦 Important Notes:
• Portable message boards are expected to be placed in advance to help notify drivers.
• Metro officials are coordinating communication with emergency services, JCPS, TARC, local governments, and Southeast Christian Church.
• Traffic monitoring discussions are ongoing regarding possible cut-through traffic in nearby neighborhoods.

According to KIPDA traffic counts, this intersection currently handles approximately 8,100 vehicles per day, so motorists should plan ahead and expect delays during construction.

Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes during the closure period. I will continue sharing updates as additional information becomes available.

Thank you for your patience as these improvements move forward to help strengthen long-term traffic flow and safety in our area.

Over the past several weeks, I’ve listened to residents across Jeffersontown about the issues that matter most to them.

The concerns I heard most often were:
• Public safety
• Traffic and speeding in neighborhoods
• Property taxes and affordability
• Responsible growth and development
• Protecting the quality of life that makes JTown special

As your City Council Member, I’ve worked to stay accessible, responsive, and focused on the everyday issues affecting our neighborhoods and families.

Now I’m asking for your vote in the May 19th primary election.

When you vote, please remember:
✅ Mark Russell
✅ Jeffersontown City Council
✅ Ballot Position #19

Thank you for your support, your feedback, and the opportunity to continue serving our community.

At the Jeffersontown Chamber Business Expo today talking with local business owners and community leaders.

Small businesses are the backbone of Jeffersontown, and it’s important we continue creating an environment where they can grow and succeed.

Appreciate everyone who took time to share ideas and perspectives—these conversations matter.
